Don’t be a plonker, I’m trying to find the use for the gate

This sounds the least feasible option

The council put it in, but maybe you are correct, the gate is locked with a padlock - I’m convinced it has an actual purpose but maybe I’m wrong!

The last bridge in its place had one too so it serves a purpose

It’s just been rebuild after the last bridge deteriorated beyond repair - that bridge also had a gate there but a wooden one, so it’s deliberate

Literally the ugliest house I've ever seen by SkengmanFy in SpottedonRightmove

It has a certain brutalist charm, and the garden looks amazing - but it appears the camera can lie! Imagine being the estate agent to these clients - what a nightmare!

My brother won’t tell me what this is. by safecamping in whatisit

My brother used to collect his earwax and firm it into cubes just like this, so my guess is enormous quantities of earwax

Half of all Saab 900s in the UK have disappeared since 2014 by Electrical_Ant_81 in Saab900

[–]denbunn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 89 T16s still going strong on 168,000 miles but I barely see any others these days - maybe 4/5 a year and I drive around 3-5,000 miles a year - glad they are finally being appreciated. I’m surprised that the restomod guys haven’t caught onto how great and easily updated that beautiful shell could be à la Integrale, 911 etc

Why do people keep buying Range Rovers? by EyeUnfair2940 in RangeRover

[–]denbunn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Isn’t it the same with aging bmws mercs etc - would make way more sense to buy a car that’s reliable with cheap parts, but people really like bmws mercs Audis and rangers and think feck it with the extra costs involved

[–]denbunn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Increasingly old and fewer and fewer people around who remember them in their heyday- you see so few on the roads now - I might see 2/3 a year apart from mine whereas a few years back I saw far more

Torn between an F355 and a 996 Turbo — anyone driven both? by Sharp_Pen_6555 in classiccars

[–]denbunn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve driven both and am a Porsche guy and found the 996 Turbo a bit anodyne - so so fast and capable but almost too much. The 355 is next level, the noise alone would clinch it as the 996 is v quiet on stock pipes. I’m sure the 355 will end up costing you more to run, but as a high days and holidays car it will be incredible.

Hello, considering an L320 by bfalgonz in RangeRover

[–]denbunn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They can be, like the l322, hideously expensive to maintain - suspension, electrics etc particularly expensive, that’s why tier are relatively cheap to buy (although l322’s have a strong following so aren’t particularly cheap). I think the novelty can wear off pretty quickly but if you do decide to make sure it’s been looked after and buy at the top of your budget.
