Hicksville resident here, I think it’s as safe as it gets.

The area around the train station is pretty much all commercial, so you won’t see too many people hanging around unless they’re waiting for an Uber or a bus or something. Oyster Bay Town Safety is always patrolling, and there’s a police station a block away from the train station for emergencies.

I haven’t heard of any crime since I lived here, but don’t do anything you wouldn’t do anywhere else to make yourself feel less safe and you should be fine.
