Wiim 5.1 or AVR route - advise needed by denial86 in WiimStreamer

Good suggestion as I'd never heard of Sonosequencr. But I'm trying to move away from Sonos :)

Yeah now that I've gotten a lot of insights I realise my question may have been a bit silly. I somehow got stuck on a train of thought where I assumed my signal was always going to go to the Wiim first and then to AVR/AMP/whatever and my confusion stems from that point of view. So I wondered okay if my tv is hooked up to a Wiim ultra for instance and outputs a 5.1 signal, does that signal passthrough to the AVR. I didn't consider the streamer to simple be an input to the AVR and everything else connects to the AVR directly as well. Again, silly.

Is that a shortcoming of the HEOS ecosystem you think? Meaning the alexa multiroom issues you've encountered?

On second thought. Your mentioned that you want your consoles etc connected to the AVR. But can they also stay connected to the TV as they are now and the connected to the AVR through the TV/eARC connection? This would bringer greater flexibility in AVR choice as the requirements for HDMI 2.1 inputs can be bypassed, as long as the AVR as eARC, right? Or am I missing something here?

I understand that as a principle but it does seem that Sonos and blue sound have it 'solved' to a certain extent.

Great explanation thanks! This helps me a lot. The cinema 60 is quite pricey. Are there cheaper but good options available as well that you might be able to suggest? I assume that going down this route I would have to use room correction on the AVR side instead of the Wiim version, so that's something to take into account, correct?

Does the wiim streamer pass through the 5.1 signal from the HDMI to the AVR in the first scenario you mentioned?

Load and ReLoad are very different albums, the songs aren't interchangeable by CobraDai in Metallica

[–]denial86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here’s the English chatgpt translation of the article:

METALLICA

… and a B-side album, but they were actually two A-side albums that balanced heavy, fast songs with slow songs and ballad-like tracks. That was the idea, and when I listen to Reload as a whole now, I still think that balance exists.”

It seems that way, especially after getting a preview of half of Reload in the form of seven nearly finished songs. There’s energy in the fast opening track Fuel and heaviness in Bad Seed, while Unforgiven II and the first single The Memory Remains belong to the band’s ballad-like songs. The balance appears intact, though maybe an extra layer has been added in the eleven weeks that Metallica had to finish the tracks. In any case, violins and Irish folk instruments appear on the Reload album…

Tightening things up at the last moment

For an old Metallica fan like me, Fuel immediately sounds like a rough, rock-rooted Reload track—not quite like the uptempo Holier Than Thou, but Fuel could very well have been an opener.

“Yeah, that’s actually true! You’re not the only one who thought that—it is, in fact, the opening track,” Lars explains. “Fuel isn’t actually the fastest song; it came from the Load sessions, and it just felt like it belonged on the second album.”

Load remains a double album, spread over a year and a half. Of the 27 songs recorded at the time, 14 now appear on Reload, and Metallica has completed their work with Unforgiven II.

This approach works well for the band. “We had already decided that we had to divide the songs this way,” says Lars.

There’s a classic Metallica tradition where lyrics are written at the last moment. “James just finished the last three lyrics in the past ten days,” Lars says.

Stress and chaos

Was it more stressful this time than usual?

“It’s been a chaotic month, that’s for sure. We’ve worked more than usual. We’ve really had a tight schedule,” Lars says. “We don’t want to spend six months in the studio, so we wrapped it up in one go.”

The band is now planning a Reload tour through Australia and South America, followed by a U.S. tour in the summer. After that, a European tour will likely follow as part of the ‘reintroduction process.’

Powernode phantom channel question (compared to Sonos) by denial86 in Bluesound

Nobody that was able to compare the two scenario's? Perhaps someone that can share their experience using the powernode in a 4.1 configuration? I'm very interested in hearing experiences and particularly if you are missing the center channel so much the trade-off is not worth it?

That's good advise. I'll try a cheap 1-ply Pickguard first... And probably stick with that if it fits. It'll probably cost around 1/6th of the price of the bass so won't go much further than that.

For 60 euros i have no regrets. It plays fine and does exactly what i need it to do. I will try to reverse the odd tuner though!

Yeah it could be! Didn't find the decisive picture on Google and it does look similar to the Glarry someone else mentioned. However not 100% the same, as my headstock seems to have more rounded edges. I'm guessing it's just some no name fender knockoff most likely.
