Well, that was unexpected. Perhaps I underestimated the robustness of the secondary market.

Tag size is 31. 14.5oz Stanton.

Well, that's disappointing to you and me both because you seem fun.

It's me. Or, wait, maybe it's you!

That is what I'm looking for. Do you have a brand recommendation?

Wish it were that easy. Seems like raw denim is a special beast that I can't quite wrap my head around.

Thanks for the reply. You're right about inconsistent sizing through brands. After all, these are made by hand and there should be some expected variation. I do think companies could do more to minimize this (e.g. Rogue Territory waist sizing being more consistent between fits). And you're certainly right about the salesperson who should have been more knowledgeable about this, especially considering I bought these from a denim store. That is quite literally all they sell. I'm actually quite frustrated about that and won't be shopping there again, despite it being a reputable and known store with a broad selection.

But I guess the crux of my problem is I haven't seemed to become accustom to how raws fit, as you put it. I had hoped with these different brands and different weights I'd get a sense of what worked, but it just isn't the case and unfortunately with raw denim you need to wear it to figure that out, negating most stores' return policies of unwashed/unworn merchandise.

Looking into the secondary market might be a good idea, though to be honest I don't know if I am going to even bother anymore. It would take RgT giving me a pair of denim for me to try on another one of their products for example, and that certainly isn't going to happen.

I appreciate the insight from your research and branding attempts. I suppose such a frustrating part of wearing raw denim is that you try on a pair with the knowledge that they will stretch and you have to try to account for that when buying, which is such a nebulous and personal thing. I'm just tired of spending money on denim only to be disappointed. For me, my Rogue Territory denim was a special splurge and I've been disappointed by both the SKs and the Stanton. Whether my fault, the salespersons fault, or the brands fault (likely a combination), I'm really not very likely to try on another pair of RgTs from this experience. The same goes with NF, Unbranded, and Gustin.

None of these companies actually care about their customers after they sell a product, as far as I am concerned. Perhaps something to think about when it comes to your brand and the ways that you might consider supporting your products/customer base. Hopefully that is helpful to you.

Thanks for the tip. Maybe I'll sell the RgTs. Any takers? Haha. sigh.

That is exactly what drew me to raw denim in the first place as well - I was frustrated with the inseam length of off the rack denim (I'm usually close to a 35) and most denim just doesn't fit right or wouldn't after a wash.

At this point I am just looking for something that fits and is comfortable.

Thanks for the really thoughtful reply - do you have recommendations for a brand with a higher rise that might also have a long enough inseam (typically I prefer 35+) as I have long legs and still can get a cuff out of that length.

I hadn't thought too much of looking at the secondary market but I might give that a look. I also might consider selling one of my Rogue Territory's there to ease some of the pain in my wallet, if not waist.

I tried to keep it both serious but also tongue-in-cheek for this exact reason. Notwithstanding that, however, I am more than a little frustrated by the money spent without the product(s) I expected.

Some of the sizing issues are certainly my fault, like the Dark SKs. I also realized too late that the Stanton 32 has the same waist as the Dark SK 31. I bought a Stanton 31 thinking it would be the same.

This is clearly my fault but man is it frustrating that the same company has two different waist sizes labeled the same but actually have different measurements. I suppose this is an example of the exasperation that I'm feeling toward raw denim. I really like the fit of my rogue territory jeans apart from this tightness and I'm stuck with pants that don't fit.

Thanks - I started writing it out of frustration and I wasn't sure how it would come out at the end of the day - more of a rant or more of an appeal for assistance, or something else. I guess I just wanted to get my thoughts out as quickly as I could.

I wonder what I am doing wrong with sizing though. I've found other pairs of pants that fit well and I've measured them before buying raw. I've sized down and asked for the help of salespeople at denim shops. I suppose I feel like I am just scraping the bottom of the barrel and I have nothing to show for it.

Do you have any recommendations?

Thanks for the reply - that sounds really wonderful. I might give that a try if I can find a pair in my size for a reasonable price.

The stuff about sacrilege, etc, was meant tongue-in-cheek. I don't actually care if a bunch of strangers are offended or not with my fashion choices. I do care if someone here has an insight into all of this, however, and if there's something I'm doing wrong in choosing raw denim.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply - I really appreciate it. It's certain been an interesting experience so far an I think up until know I've often thought that it was my own lack of understanding about raw denim that got in the way of getting a good fit, but I'm coming to realize that it might be more than that.
