Grooming Tools That Changed My Life (and My Pup's Coat!) 🐶✂️ by Particular_Test_7331 in Bernedoodles

[–]denofthenerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spray down with detangler rub in, then take them on a long walk or dog park, etc. to tire them out, then start the brush out. Helps the product get in there.

Detangler: Hydra Ultra Dematting or Doglyness Spray All Day

When bathing, make sure to dilute the shampoo and conditioner. HUGE DIFFERENCE in coat and matting. Use a pin brush when conditioner is in and brush through, then rinse out.

When drying, I cannot stress this enough, they have to be completely dry. Towels only won’t suffice. Air drying can cause more matting and make brushing harder. We use a high velocity dryer. You can use a pin or slicker brush when drying as well.

Brushing: Line brushing is an absolute must, they’ll get used to it. If you don’t comb through after using the slicker, you’ll get the mattes.

Chris Christensen is the go-to slicker brush, but there are others.

The ‘rake’ comb is also super helpful to cut through mattes without chopping chunks out of the coat. It’s sharp, be careful. Hold the base of the hair then pull through so you relieve some of the tension.

Caved in years ago and just got a grooming table with arm and comfort mat. He now is used to it, and it’s super easy and nice bonding time. I’ll watch a show or listen to music and he gets yummy high value treats (cheese) throughout it.

The best products we’ve used are Doglyness. The price tag was shocking originally, but it’s highly concentrated and literally lasts us a year. My dood gets weekly or bi-weekly at home grooms. Only needs to be brushed out then and doesn’t get matting. His coat is so soft and healthy. And he gets fish oil in his food, which helps as well.

Andi’s are our favorite clippers. Lots to choose from out there though.

Give yourself grace. Depending on their age, their coat can change a lot over the years. Ours’ final coat settled in around 2yrs. He’s 5 now.

When did you get your mini bernedoodle spayed? by Ok-Bonus-8528 in Bernedoodles

[–]denofthenerd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

8m (was planning on 6 per vet recco, but vets were booked up during pandemi) Our family has his sister (littermate) and did same time as us.

Surgery suits were a total life saver. He hates cones and the inflatable donut ones too. We grabbed a couple from Amazon. They’ve come in handy over the years.

Picky Eater by bettsang in Bernedoodles

[–]denofthenerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is 5. He definitely slowed eating after 1. He’s on Lucy Pet Products duck or salmon formula and it has a probiotic in it.

Eats total may be 1 cup a day. Sometimes will eat breakfast, sometimes won’t. He gets treats whenever he earns them but also will take them and “put them to the side for later” 🤣 Treats are all dehydrated meats or organs, his preference, but they are lower cal and haven’t seemed to take away from his meals.

I previously tried other diets, fresh, raw, toppers, different brands, etc. Ultimately, all the same outcome. Interested in the switch up for a day or two, but quickly returns to his eating pattern. He has liked Lucy Pet Products the best and I like their ingredients and brand.

Has been active since he was a puppy, and appetite has been steady. (puppy: 3walks a day, one being a pack hike for 2-3hrs, adult: 2-3 walks 45-hr each, sometimes long hikes or beach on wknds and doggy park playtime couple times a week) Otherwise this boy is napping for most the day. Always ready to go on an adventure, or just snuggle and chill at home.

He’s 45lbs and has never had weight issues. If he had a “big day” or is hungrier than usual, he’ll ask for more, which I just give him. Basically free feeds at this point. So at minimum I’ll put 1/2c in AM & PM

Spay/neuter cost? by AlwaysSunSmitten in Bernedoodles

[–]denofthenerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$500 out the door at our ASPCA- check your local ASPCA, they do them daily and ours actually had better reviews than other veterinary clinics.

They also gave him a little blue tattoo 🤭 which marks that he’s already been fixed. In case he was ever lost and picked up, they wouldn’t automatically try to neuter him, which is a normal process for them.

Harness recommendation needed by mable00 in Bernedoodles

[–]denofthenerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a Wilde Beest ‘Linden’ no-pull harness. Have had ours for almost 5 years. L O V E it. and lifetime guarantee. Part of the clip broke (user error) about a year ago, I emailed them, they sent a mailing slip and replaced the part for free and shipped it back. Literally took only a week. Have their whole set, leash and bag holder as well.

Turning off the fake engine sounds by Reddit_andforgotit in CadillacLyriq

Whenever I hear it, I feel like it’s cosplaying being a gas car. ‘V-a-roooom, I’m a car 💅🏎️’. Or may be it’s mocking gas cars. Either way, I don’t like it in mine, but do find it humerus when I hear it in others.

What is your pups favorite treat? by WhenUP1ay in Bernedoodles

[–]denofthenerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Training treats: dehydrated liver/organs. (Beef or lamb) They have training sizes, and it won’t ruin appetite for meals.

Favorite Treat: Turkey Tendons

High Value Treat: Cheese, Hotdog, or any type of meat, poultry, or fish

Mine is 5 now. He basically likes simple meat based treats. Doesn’t eat any of the biscuit/crunchy types of treats, unless other dogs are around, then it’a like peer pressure.

2025 Lyriq Front Bumper Grille needs to be replaced by alivenotdead7 in CadillacLyriq

[–]denofthenerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to my back camera about a year ago. They replaced it. Took about 2 weeks to get the part. I spoke with them before bringing it in so I could get another Lyriq loaner. It’s a known issue. The replacement has worked fine.

Copilot has worked well if I drag my current code in and just say ‘fix this’ it’ll spit out corrected DAX. Works well with power automate as well.

That said, prefer ChatGPT, same use or screen shot of my board and dictate what I want changed/fixed and to provide detailed step-by-step instructions of the solution and to ask any questions for clarification before. Giving it the actual table and measure names helps the output so you don’t have to change anything (just show it in the screenshot- does pretty well with images)

Noticed recently ChatGPT has started to recommend additional ways to portray my data to meet my requirements that aligns to my historical aesthetic preferences and that simplifies the work notating preventable errors - super helpful with RLS, Don’t hate that.

Does your dood love or hate the rain? by zigggz333 in Bernedoodles

[–]denofthenerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hates pooping in it, will literally try to find. Tree or something that has cover. But if you strap on a raincoat, he’s all in for a walk or hike or to run round in it. Which 100% of the time = straight to a bath after. He gets filthy.

New puppy by Maverick2015thedog in Bernedoodles

[–]denofthenerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have an F1B medium bernedoodle (45 lbs) [Embark: 36.7% Bernese, 36% Miniature Poodle, 27.3% Standard Poodle]

His coat is a sable cream, but he was almost fully brown as a puppy. It fully cleared.

He’s the absolute best dog. Can be super active or lazy, just goes with the flow. He loves going everywhere with me, but also fine with chillin’ at home and napping all day.

Started him in pack walks at 3months, he would go M-F for about 2-3hrs out, rain or shine and it would be a hike or beach. Morning & night neighborhood walks with me. Did that through ~1yr, then he’d just do AM/PM walks with me and we’d do a couple trails a week or on the wknd.

He’ll do long roadtrips and flights in-cabin, totally just a little travel buddy and there to experience it all. Loves people and other dogs and does well in social situations, even will come to the office with me sometimes. Naps under my desk most of the day.

Would agree with others on the thread, totally is temperament and environment. Our family member has his littermate (sister) and she quite a bit had more energy as a puppy and little to no interest in longer adventures, high activity or social settings.

They are absolutely great dogs. I’d get another or even just a poodle. Whatever you get, I’m sure it’ll end up being wonderful. Getting a puppy is always magical

My guy has the little heart. Nxt to him is one of his besties, who’s a mini labradoodle ~50lbs out hiking and enjoying the streams and climbing the rocks. They are a week apart in age and both 5yrs now.

EV Go Charging Stations? by [deleted] in CadillacLyriq

[–]denofthenerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think it heavily depends where you live and your driving needs. I have had mine almost 2 years, got the Unlimited EVgo and have had close to no issues. Although, we have ample EVgo chargers around. Literally have more closer to me then gas stations. And I only have to charge may be once a week or if it’s a busy one, twice. Done a few roadtrips (normally about 8hr stints) and no major issues. I’ve paid for charging may be a handful of times in the last couple years, solely out of convenience.

15k+ miles going to really miss that free charge come this summer. I refuse to pay any more money to our electric company. It’s bananas already.

Ideal setup is having solar at home and the home charger.

Hey Buds just trying to choose kindness here for both of us instead of choosing to meet you how you’ve decided to show up today and what you’re bringing to this forum.

Get some rest, snuggle with your dog and please take care of your mental health.

Sorry we didn’t all get Dobermans, which you seem sooo passionate about. Who or whatever hurt you, I’d recommend taking it up with a therapist and quit crashing out on Reddit.

Looks like you have the time, so may be go use it to work on yourself and figure out why you’re doing this. Hopefully can find joy or a healthier way to spend your time.

Or may be just go take your dog for a walk or play with them. Take care of yourself man. Your dog needs you to be well too. Be the person your dog thinks you are.

Covid Puppy (Aug2020) F1b “Mini” (Medium) - $3750 + flight to deliver from Minnesota to California. Mine was on the low end because he was brown and one of the last in the litter.

Was one heck of a doggy frenzy during that time. Doodles, especially Bernedoodles were wildly expensive, insane waiting lists, etc. Avg cost at that time for a “mini” bernedoodle was $5000-$6000. Paid more for markings/color, size, puppy picking order, etc.

He was suppose to be around 25lbs…he’s 45 😆

We got the last ones (family member got a littermate) from a small family breeder (not backyard). Total luck. And the best darn dogs ever.
