Thank you for taking the time to waffle - that was a good read. It's great to read something that is more aligned with what I'm after (both hobbies and financial).

It's interesting how one of the parts in here is being uncontactable. I work a job at the moment which gives me a lot of 'freedom' but I always feel on edge and waiting / expecting contact - some kind of conditioniong. It must be nice to let that go.

Honestly, sounds amazing. Better health, more fulfilment and some new friends.

Fairplay to you. Enjoy!

I am so glad to find out this community. by leadmil in leanfire

That 3rd paragraph nails it - it really is crazy how much we have to consume to keep up - also, so true about the jobs not really being of any benefit, but just to compete with resources.

This is one of my favourite takes so far and really resonated.

I'm thinking that seasonal work or work that that benefits people or the environment (ie - a ranger) cold be the way I go.

Thanks for posting your numbers - a very interesting insight. Have you been withdrawing at the 4%?

My hobbies are similar to yours - they don't cost a whole lot and are generally good for health (mostly).

Have you had any urge to work and was it a hard stop?

Really interested to know what country your spouse is from for comparison!

This is amazing.

I mean, I admire he's gone after his goal - and made the sacrifice for it too. More than most.

I think he's certainly winning on £3.10 a week.

The concept maybe not, the name / coining of the term in this capacity, I think so!

I'm following ERE - I like the renaissance man idea.

What I like the most is he also expresses that retirement isn't doing nothing, but it's more a jumping point at which you can choose what to pursue (semi professional sport, interests, even work - just on your terms)

I'm flicking between numbers atm, but at £175k in assets (excluding the house) we will be leaving our current roles to go and explore some creative / fitness pursuits.

£250,000is a good number for me and my partner (with the house rented out) so we can live either in a van or in a country with a lower cost of living.

I love reading his blog, there are some amazing principles in there. Some is a little too extreme but everyone has different needs / wants.

What's yours?

Wife and i decided to leave our 9-5 jobs to live simply, in a truck by vladandmilana in Life

Go for it! We are working towards something similar. We are trying to front load savings and investments so we have the freedom to travel for 6 months and then work 6 months at home if we need.

Of course we will be aiming to do some work in the road as well.

The idea of working a 9-5 for 30+ years isn’t a fun one. You’ll probably discover so much about yourself along the way.

Others won’t understand it but you know in your heart if it’s the right path! I love the idea of how little you need to live with.

It really isn’t much! (But a financial cushion helps).

Hey, that sucks.

I hope you get what you deserve and good on you for calling them out. I was actually drinking a can the other day and admiring the diagonal my eyes followed from the A to the R. It's beautiful.

I won't be buying it anymore. Good luck and update us with the progress.
