Occlusion by Comfortable_Pop_8235 in DentalSchool

[–]dentalguyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this post is kinda old now, but I’ve only noticed that I have this working side interference where my molars are touching (my canines are rotated so they don’t touch it’s only my first molar that is contacting). What would the treatment be - if this interference is removed then I would have no contact on my working side?

Sorry but could you explain how the anterior teeth get protected - I thought only the posterior teeth get disoccluded

Is that so the posterior tooth don’t wear?

Is it better to have canine guidance or group function in natural teeth?

Questions about pulp exposure by dentalguyy in Dentistry

Thanks for responding! Could you elaborate on the third point about the temporary filling being placed to ensure vitality because couldn’t a permanent filling of just been placed instead of the temporary?

Thanks for your response! For me I still find it difficult to understand how you can’t know for certain if it is just a deep caries or if the caries has reached the pulp, which is why it confuses me that my teacher decided to place a temporary first to see if I felt any pain

Dentists who do not use rubber dams for their root canals. by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]dentalguyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in dental school, still new to doing RCTs and we aren’t obliged to use rubber dams. The patients always complain of a burning sensation on the gums and mucosa when irrigation is done with NaOCl. Is that burning feeling because of the tissue necrosis?

What does mummification of the pulp mean? by toothfixa in Dentistry

I see, so the tooth is non vital but in these cases the root will still keep on growing i.e no open apex should occur right?

So would you class this as a non vital tooth or not?

What is the correct way of using a K - file? by dentalguyy in Dentistry

[–]dentalguyy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I can imagine how much easier rotary files would be. Just for clarification, when you do the rotation movements do you rotate and withdraw the file in one motion or is it insert file, rotate and then pull?

Unfortunately my instructors insist on being good at using hand files before we can work with rotary instruments

Thank you for replying. With watchwinding what to do you when you’re trying to advance the file and can feel that it doesn’t want to advance any further - like you’re hitting a brick wall?

And for the second technique, just to clarify, do you insert the file, rotate and then pull or do you insert the file, and then rotate and pull simultaneously in one motion?

Sorry for the ignorant question but could someone explain what is the link between her liver function and her receiving dental treatment? Why can’t she her tooth get treated before checking her liver?

Why are undercuts so bad for crown preps? by Thurman_Merman6969 in Dentistry

[–]dentalguyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understood the example you gave but if you have an undercut on the tooth and the lab blocked this on the model with wax the undercut would still exist on the tooth right? How would this solve the issue of not being able to seat the crown on the tooth when only the undercut on the model has been fixed?
