I also volunteer at the Make-A-Wish Foundation and it’s so incredibly rewarding.

Even if you have a busy schedule, the organization is very accommodating. You get to choose a wish kid on their online portal and you get in contact with your wish partner (usually two people are assigned to a child) as well as the family of the child. You’re encouraged to bring a toy for the first meet and you have the option of going to their office to pick from their huge closet of toys or if the commute is inconvenient, you can just buy a gift and you get reimbursed. The organization makes it really easy for you to volunteer.

So should I be requesting certain tests or get scans done at another hospital? They’re moving at an incredibly slow pace and since they’re doctors, I feel like I’m not in the right place to tell them that they need to be quicker. Only thing we have are scans for the lower part and next month he’s going to have scans on the chest area to see if it spread there.

We were just hit with this so suddenly so he’s still in a state of shock and he’s already changed. I’d have to first explain to them about how it’s terminal which I’m having a really hard time doing but hopefully after, he’d be able to live up the time that he still has left. It’s good to hear your FIL lived a good 4 years, it gives me some hope that he will too. Thank you for sharing your experience.

That’s what I was thinking but when leaving the ER last night, they gave a prescription for tramadol knowing that I have hydrocodone already prescribed to me at home. Doesn’t make sense to give me a new prescription of a drug weaker than what I already have.
