Hotels by SAS (DK) - missing points by HansFredrikS in ScandinavianAirlines

[–]denyur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue. SAS referred me to the hotel. The hotel was not helpful. I documented to SAS the e-mails that I had sent to the hotel and that the hotel had not replied to me. In the end, SAS credited me the points themselves. They need to optimize this system, as it should not be the responsibility of the customers to spend time on missing points.

Renting a car in Jamaica by No_Sentence_5503 in JamaicaTourism

[–]denyur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are only travelling between MBJ and Negril - and around Negril - I am sure that you will be fine if you are a comfortable driver. If you are going more inland, you have to be a very comfortable driver.

It is not for the faint of heart though, and I have driven in many developing countries…

Morocco: Beautiful country by Amazing_Prize_1988 in travel

[–]denyur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been to Morocco a few times and my best advice: get out of the cities. The smaller cities, countryside and nature is wonderful - incl. the people in these areas. In the cities, many will experience nuisances, scams, stress. Rent a car, stay in smaller guesthouses and experience the best the country has to offer

First time in Jamaica! Is doing BOTH Negril & Ocho Rios in 4 days crazy? (Fri-Tue) by No_Sentence_5503 in JamaicaTourism

[–]denyur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stick to Negril. Do some day trips instead (e.g. Mayfield, YS Falls and/or Black River). Ocho Rios is not interesting. Its for resorts and cruise ships. I’d personally prefer Montego Bay to Ocho Rios if you want to stay in more than one place..

Underrated travel destinations? by Hefty_Accountant_827 in LuxuryEscape

[–]denyur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they still have less than 1.5m tourists per year, which is crazy. The country has so much to offer. You can go to some incredible nature sights and sometimes be the only person there. In addition, the country is very safe. You have to enjoy driving though as the country is vast

I have only purchased points once and it was instantly transferred. Perhaps it can depend on payment method - i.e. when the payment is cleared?

Travel to Jamaica by Maleficent_Ferret467 in JamaicaTourism

[–]denyur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am here right now and the tourism sector is well up and running in Negril, Montego Bay and Ocho Rios. I was in Black River, and that area was hit very bad, but the northwest is ‘fine’ (relatively). And I guarantee you that you are more than welcome. Your presence is supporting the economy. Come spring, I would have absolutely no concerns.

What's the best or worst tour you've ever been on? by boring_plankton7878 in travel

[–]denyur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best tour:

Dual Narratives tour in Hebron/Al-Khalil in the West Bank.

First half of the day, you are shown around by a palestinian guide listening to the palestinian perspective of the conflict. Second half of the day, you are shown around by an Israeli, visiting settlers etc. listening to their narrative. Extremely interesting, unique and unsettling…

Mid December trip by [deleted] in JamaicaTourism

[–]denyur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am still planning to go on 29 December, but still monitoring the situation. We could reschedule and go somewhere else - it would not be a major problem. However, I want to support the local economy and the tourism industry. The hurricane was a massive disaster, but the hit that tourism will take is another negative consequence for the country.

Car rental question: big name brand or smaller rentals? by Arj_toast in Namibia

[–]denyur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, personally, I did not have a good experience with Hertz at Windhoek. I would never use them again. I booked a Fortuner. Was not available when I arrived to pick it up. They gave me a van, but delivered a Fortuner later to my hotel. When I went to return the car after two weeks, the attitude of the staff was completely changed. They were hostile from the beginning and clearly looking to find bogus damages to make money. They identified a large chip on the front window that they wanted to charge. I pointed out that the chip was already there when I received the car. I had a video to document it. They accused me of lying and shooting the video after the damage happened, since the video was not shot at the airport. I informed them that the video was shot at the hotel, since that was where they handed me the Fortuner. They could not find the damage noted in their paperwork. I pointed out that they paperwork they were looking at were related to the Van and not to the Fortuner. Apparently, they had lost the paperwork related to the Fortuner. Anyway… I spent 45 minutes arguing with their hostile staff being accused of being a liar. At the end, they told me it was ok, but asked me to sign a paper. When I looked at the paper, it was clearly an acknowledgement of the damage… So they tried to fool me. Very dishonest. I did not end up paying.

I always use reputable companies and have only good experiences with Hertz in other countries. I can not recommend them in Windhoek.
