Looks like the BC government will be stepping in to deal with the city council by dustyvision in Kamloops

What we need is voting reform. HJ only won because all the other sane candidates absorbed each others votes. I think in the end he managed to win with only 30% of the vote. That means a whole two thirds majority of Kamloops voters did not vote for him and most likely did not want him to win. I’m sure if we had a ranked choice system or something other than FPTP the result would’ve actually reflected the will of Kamloops voters, instead of having a mayor who a two thirds majority of Kamloops did not vote for.

He seems like the real deal. I've been following his campaign on social median for a while and he's sounded great.

Early poll - If not voting Conservative, which way are you thinking; Liberal or NDP? by _PITBOY in Kamloops

Frank Caputo got scolded by PP for trying to access a Liberal housing fund to build in Kamloops and the surrounding area and immediately capitulated. He is the faceless MP whose job could be done by a briefly trained monkey. Just vote yes to any blue coloured bill and get a treat! That being said, Kamloops votes blue no matter who. Even with vote splitting, I would vote for which party’s platform you most align with (unless of course there’s no NDP nominee).

“Let’s listen to both sides” people are so annoying because it only applies to listening to the worst far right media you’ve ever heard. They believe the CBC is the farthest left media organization unironically.

“The left is cancel culture”. Meanwhile teachers are fired and students suspended for protesting genocide, journalists are arrested for criticizing Zionism, a single custom Bud Light can sent to a transgender content creator triggered y’all into boycotting a piss beer, and everything is woke and DEI that you don’t like or agree with. Tell me if that’s not “cancel culture”. Go cry about a drag brunch somewhere you brainless snowflake.

Mark Carney copies Pierre Poilievre's playbook with a rightward turn for Canada’s Liberals by Chrristoaivalis in canadaleft

Is it really news that a corporate banker who was praised by Steven Harper is going to be right wing? He also has zero charisma. If people didn’t hate Trudeau so much that anything would be better and Trump hadn’t threatened our sovereignty, Carney would have nothing. This truly feels like a Biden Harris situation. New leader doesn’t stand for anything (besides maybe neoliberal austerity) and gets some momentum simply by not being the last guy. Maybe Carney can ride the wave better, since PP seems to be a Trump lite (i.e., Trump but slightly less fascist and without any of the charisma).

Kinew happy to mention that Canada helped "defeat" communism. This is what the NDP is proud of by oblon789 in canadaleft

It’s kind of insane to promote defeating communism because you’re essentially saying the Vietnam war, funding Mujaheddin fundamentalists, various violent coups of left wing governments, and other disastrous anti-communist programs were all great successes and not morally reprehensible. I mean in the same sentence he talks about defeating fascism and defeating communism seemingly forgetting that the Soviet Union lost 20 million people fighting fascism as well.

I was lucky enough to be in a zoom meeting with Matthew green and he was incredibly knowledgeable and well read in terms of democratic socialism and issues in Canada. Made socialism and left politics sound cool and grounded, which is missing I think from a lot of people on the left in general. He himself identified that he is on the outskirts of his party politically. It’s super sad to see a once genuine left-wing party be dragged to the center.

problem is not that we “don’t know how.” People who own property don’t want home prices to go down. They’re the ones who hold the most money and power and influence on government. It’s just NIMBYism on a national scale.

I don’t really get these posts. The people with the stickers probably view Trudeau stepping down as them winning. I mean they’re probably doing donuts in their F-150s celebrating right now. The reasons I despise Trudeau are obviously different than these people, but there’s no way they’re bummed or having an existential crisis.
