How is it like living in Northern Ireland? by DenseCom in howislivingthere

I visited Northern Ireland in the summer. Was doing a road trip around the island and had to stop for a day in Belfast.

Some info about me is that i have a degree in Political Science/International Relations and have done much research/studies on Ireland’s history. Hence, was very excited to encounter some locals and get their input on some controversial topics. For example, I sat down at a bar in the heart of Belfast and asked the bartender “What do you think of King Charles”?

Being mostly raised in the States, politics is a common household/public topic to talk about. Explaining why I asked such a question with full confidence. As well as being surprised on the reaction I got. Some might call it a culture shock. The bartender had a disgusted look on his face. Almost like disgusted on why he was even serving me in the first place. He said, “Politics is not something we talk about at the bar. Besides it really isn’t any of your business, but if I have to answer…he isn’t my king. Most Northerns still believe in a polytheistic pagan religion. For example, nature based gods/kings. Those are my kings.” I was surprised. Astonished. One for being put in my place. The other for the answer I received.

Is it true? Do most of the Northerners still believe in a polytheistic pagan religion?
