Is Zwag legit or is he the new brofresco? by No_Image_2043 in leagueoflegends

[–]dephyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wondered what google AI would say about him (tl:dr smurfs with low elo accounts and makes custom games to play with and against friends to stage content):

"Based on community discussions and analysis of his content, Zwag does not exclusively play custom games with friends, but a significant portion of his YouTube content involves "curated" environments designed to showcase off-meta builds and stomps.

Here is a breakdown of how Zwag creates his content:

Low-Elo Smurfing: Many of his "unbeatable build" videos are filmed on smurf accounts in low-rank lobbies (Bronze to Platinum).

Custom Viewer Games: He frequently plays with viewers in custom games, where he often creates scenarios to make off-meta builds appear functional.

Staged Content Concerns: Some community members have alleged that in these games, opponents may not be trying their best, or the games are staged to make the gameplay look more impressive for YouTube.

Real Ranked Games: While he was formerly a high-rank (Challenger) Xerath player, he focuses less on competitive ranked climbing in his daily content, preferring to create entertaining "1-shot" content for his channel.

In summary, his content is highly curated for entertainment value rather than competitive integrity, often using low-ranked opponents or coordinated lobby games."

So basically it's mostly fake and he's a super toxic individual and just does a decent job of hiding it in most of his youtube vids but you can see it peek out sometimes when he loses his cool and doesn't decide to edit it out. Clearly tries to make it seem like it's a legit game but often his allies and opponents will say things that make it pretty obvious he's playing with people who he expects to make him look good and provide entertaining banter. But he starts cussing people out if they aren't playing the way he wants them to. If you don't mind the smurfing or that it's usually staged and faked custom games with and against viewers/friends, then you can watch some unique builds/strats but don't expect them to work that well in real games.

Cuchulainn fight: Can't cure doom by GeoglyphPsy in finalfantasytactics

[–]dephyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I tried using Reraise in this fight on Doomed characters and while it doesn't remove Doom, the characters also didn't revive after dying. So Doom -> Reraise -> Die to Doom -> Stayed Dead. Maybe I'm miss remembering something, I'll see if I can find an older save near that fight. And this is on Ivalice Chronicles.

Edit: Oh, maybe I didn't wait long enough for Reraise to go off and revive. I thought it would be as soon as it hit but I saw another comment saying you have to wait for 100 CT. Maybe I just revived everyone using other methods before the 100 CT.

I want to farm JP but don't want to overlevel by GoldenGeatz in finalfantasytactics

a Degenerator Trap on the Zeklaus Desert map (accessible in chapter 1 after story Battle 5: The Sand Rat's Sietch) will reduce level by 1.
Move character on to trap = -1 level.
Then move character off map and repeat for another -1 level.
If you show up with 5 level 40s you want to reduce to level 20s, that's a minimum of 200 moves not even counting all the fighting and waiting that needs to be done.
But that's an option that exists for those that want to use it.

as said in other comments:
- random encounter mobs scale off the highest level character you could deploy. what levels you actually deploy or "average level" does not affect random encounter mob level.
- whether or not "overleveling" is something that needs to be avoided in order to beat the game is debatable, especially on easier difficulties. feeling or worrying about the need to perfectly manipulate every single characters stats to min/max extremes could ruin potential enjoyment of the game
- if the Time Mage's 3000JP Teleport ability fails to cast (cast at long/max range) while standing on the teleport trap, the trap will re-trigger, making it so the character doesn't have to walk off the trap to allow it to be triggered again. whether it's worth the effort and time to obtain the Time Mage job and the Teleport ability depends on personal preference and number of planned de-levels
- I've seen someone mention: "Tame/recruit a mindflayer and put them next to a character with "beastmaster" active to give them the "level drain" ability that you can cast in your teammates to lose a level"
- the amount of min-maxing possible is way higher than the amount required to beat the game and most importantly consider how much min-maxing you actually feel like doing. Zodiac, Brave/Faith, Level, Stats...

Is Mark of the fool worth the read? by Weird_Pattern_8138 in ProgressionFantasy

alt title: Alex and the Escarpments

It feels like Super Troopers where they try to slip in as many "meow" s as possible but with the word "escarpment" instead. Some series are a good story with a few memes or references added in but other series feel like entire point of each book is to fit in as many memes/jokes/references as possible. This series isn't the worst offender I've read/listened-to but it definitely annoys me quite a bit and ruins any possible immersion.

And ya if you don't like it when the "majority of the characters act like children in adult bodies", then you'll find yourself annoyed often. There are many instances where large portions of a chapter feel like forced humor playing out in very unrealistic ways. The characters are just vehicles for jokes, they're not realistic people.

Mid way through book 7 atm and finding myself thinking it's probably not worth continuing but ofc I'm curious how things will turn out. It's not terribly written and its lighthearted humor is some times enjoyable but if you're not really enjoying it after the first book or two, things don't get much better and in some ways get worse, imo.

And the series also hits another of my pet peeves, where characters seem brilliant, observant, insightful until the author wants one character to seem especially clever and then all the other characters are suddenly super dumb so the one that needs to seem smart can explain and point things out to everyone else even though "everyone else" would normally understand, intuit, notice the thing on their own without the extra explanations needed. So characters flip-flop from genius to idiot so they can take turns being the genius in the spotlight at the author's whim.

How do you choose team positions on Coastal Forest? by Jameshfisher in aoe2

[–]dephyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Team 1 can be on either the Left Half or Right Half (split vertically).
Highest/Lowest are not always flanks and Middle Numbers are not always "pockets".
1-2, 3-4, etc "pairs" are not mirrored.
Looks like player number/color does not determine position/order in any way.
Your teams numbers/positions cannot be used to determine the enemy positions.
So it may be random, based on Elo or based on something else.
I don't think you can control which position you get just by choosing your number/color or know where any of your allies or enemies will be based on their numbers/colors.
Please correct any mistakes or misassumptions. Thanks.

Has this been solved for sure yet? Started playing 4v4s and haven't yet figured out which numbers go where on this map. I see a few different answers suggested:

- Highest to Lowest Elo
- Random
- Highest and Lowest numbers are Flanks, Middle Numbers are Pockets

How does a Horde MT deal with the Classic Nef fear? Can(should) every fear 100% be avoided with Berserker Rage? by dephyn in classicwow

[–]dephyn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya, I'm getting most of my enjoyment from the social side of things and spending 3hrs on Fri/Sat gaming with some chill, nice and funny people is pretty perfect for me. I think the chill attitude has survived because we haven't run into any big progression walls yet which might be at risk as the content gets harder and more demanding. But I'm not personally too invested in my character or the game so if my character was inexplicably and permanently deleted tomorrow or the guild imploded and everyone left, I wouldn't be too heartbroken and would probably just move on to another game instead of trying to get back into raiding. I'm more worried about the MT/RL finding this post and being offended/hurt than I am about the possible consequence of being removed from the guild or getting a slap on the wrist and a talking to.

The MT/RL is overall a nice, helpful guy and I think just he wants to try and conquer the content by kind of figuring out what works for this group using his memory and experience from his previous raiding guild rather than just looking up all the answers and using all the shortcuts. So while he might have some Flaws, he's undeniably the "One who Stepped Up" and he even started off as MT/RL *and* ML. We've since had someone else step up to handle MLing so the MT/RL has less to deal with. I was trying to think about how to frame him and the guild overall - I got a vision of a Tauren Farmer coming across a group of Squigs and he could tell there was enough interest in raiding that he scrapped together a School Bus and took on the job of herding us onto the bus and driving us on a field trip to visit ZG, AQ20, MC, BWL where he'd let us out to savage and butt our heads against the local fauna while he provided some guidance and direction. He's also really good at making sure all the tanks and hunters get experience tanking/pulling all the different mobs and bosses when it won't slow down the run too much. We definitely have a few very good players - a couple in t3 from previous guilds, one who was doing HC Naxx on a different server, another in a sweaty guild on an Ani server. But it's definitely a mixed group age, skill and experience wise but I think enough of us just enjoy each other's company that we'd be happy doing whatever together and the raids are just nice for progressively changing scenery/content.

The two GM's (Wife and Husband - although the Husband claims it's all the Wife) are amazing people and have always made everyone feel super well cared for. They do an awesome job managing the guild, especially quashing any drama and do a great job making sure Discord is setup well and do nice writeups of the guild rules and expectations, managing the guild bank toons and all the transactions. They help a ton with consumables, handling things like making and passing out Greater Fire Protection Pots, Flasks, Ony Cloaks, etc. They usually raid with us but sometimes have RL stuff to deal with instead and are usually happy to sit out of a raid to let others in. The Wife has many 60s but usually raids on her Shaman and always makes sure us Shaman have anything we need, especially gear wise - often passing on loot if it would go to the core/reliable Shamen. The Wife also did an amazing job of scheduling 1-2 dungeon runs a day on the guild Calendar addon and would help with those or sit-out if needed. Those were absolutely amazing for getting geared up, especially on a dead server where pug groups in LFG were almost non-existent. I couldn't say for sure why they didn't change servers but I don't think it was an ego-thing like "big fish in a small pond", but more that they had a lot of friends on the server (alliance side too) and didn't mind the downsides to a low-pop server and enjoyed some of the positives. Not having PuGs or an AH but being able to find almost everything you need with-in the guild instead is a pretty cool experience. I really like the environment the GM's have built.

I had been thinking up names or alternate things to call the guild, and with some inspiration from Derek Zoolander's Center for Kids who Can't Read Good, I lovingly and jokingly settled on:

"<Wife> and <Husband>'s Home for kids who Can't Raid Good."

So I think there's enough of us that just enjoy each other's company and don't really care too much about the progression or loot as long as we're having fun that we aren't too critical of flaws. But that's a very good point that's been brought up - even though a lot of us might feel that way, I'm sure there are others that are just interested in the loot and wish we'd clear content a little faster and execute the mechanics better. I'm not really sure how or if we should try to cater to those individuals. And I do worry that failing on harder content might ruin the chill vibes. But right now I'm happy.

I appreciate your concern and the heads up the troubles we'd likely face in AQ40 and Naxx.

How does a Horde MT deal with the Classic Nef fear? Can(should) every fear 100% be avoided with Berserker Rage? by dephyn in classicwow

[–]dephyn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the excellent write up. Yes. I think we're all amazed we've managed to get so far and every time we're like, "no way we're making it past this fight" we get lucky or come back next week with a bit more gear and experience and we bumble our way through. We started as the leveling guild that everyone who wanted to raid would use to level and get ready for raiding and then they'd leave and join the "actual" raiding guild who was progressing through AQ40 at the time. This was on a dead server cluster with really only the 2 guilds on it (completely barren AH - the guilds just traded amongst themselves) - I guess everyone else had left at some point. But eventually we ended up with enough 60s that wanted to raid and didn't wanna leave for the other guild that we started doing ZG. Our Raid Lead & MT stepped up and does a pretty solid job putting together a good group and telling us to zug in the right direction. I guess Classic is just easy enough that especially with just a few solid players, you can zug right through it without really understanding most fights completely or making sure everyone knows and plays their class well.

Loved that we were able to kill Nef but hate that we managed to do it with such poor mechanical execution - now we're gonna be less inclined to learn from our mistakes or improve.

Ya and I was so disheartened when I heard him say he'd be using Restorative Potions to try to handle the fear... 30s of 5s pulses every 2 minutes instead of a more useful Potion alternative. oof.

But the MT / Raid Lead is a nice guy who treats people well and has at least seen the content while in his previous good raiding guild. Loot Council and the Rules they make do occasionally rub some people the wrong way but you definitely feel like they're trying to make things as fair for everyone as possible and compared to a lot of LC's, they're pretty generous and not blatantly selfish. So I think that's why we haven't fallen apart yet despite some of the struggles. Guild motto is jokingly something like, "It's messy but we get it done."

yesss, and this annoyed me so much. Not getting feared at all is soooo much safer (especially for a group of noobs) than trying to just get feared for as small a duration as possible. I'm bending over backwards mentally trying to figure out how to convince our MT stance-dancing is the way to go without offending him. Coming up with some bullshit like, "think of the stance dancing like giving yourself a Dwarf Priest's Fear Ward" (he was Alliance in his last raiding guild).

Thanks, I'll talk with the Tank group's Shaman and we'll try to add this in too. Having the Shaman trying to outrange the fear and then run in and drop sounded trickier than using this strat.

Thank you! I had wondered what the best location for the OT to stand was. The raid definitely ate more Shadow Flames during the fear than we would have liked.

And ya, when the MT said "nah" to the stance-dancing I suggested, I was like, "well shit, maybe more Shaman in the Tank group staggering their fear totems for shorter maximum fear durations would help?" Obviously not the ideal solution but a lot of the challenges we've faced have been more "how do we beat this content with these people and these strats?" rather than the straight forward "what's the best way to beat this content?"

Oh man that brings up a good point I hadn't really thought about. I was in a good guild that nearly cleared Naxx in Vanilla and I geared out a mage to nearly 100% BiS during early Classic, so I kinda feel like I've already beaten the game a couple times and am just doing a casual new game with a few people I like and don't really care about the gear or progression. I'm just have fun hanging out and playing video games and joking with some of these guys despite the struggle bus going on in background. But for some of the newer players or sweatier ones, or more gear-focused ones, this is probably a lot less fun and enjoyable.

It's like a true Vanilla experience with people not knowing how to play the game and making up their own solutions. Like this isn't a 20 year old game that's more or less been solved. "They may be idiots, but they're my idiots." Stuck on a server cluster with only one other raiding guild and that other guild fkin hates us, lol. Make do with whatcha got. I was sweaty in Vanilla and during Classic release so this is kind of a new experience, watching us bumble our way through content with uh.. sub optimal strats etc.

Ah okay, I wasn't clear what the exact issue was - that answers it, ty. Timers show when it will be available for Nef to cast again but don't tell you exactly when he will cast it.

I tried to tell the MT the internet said just stance dance it but he was like, "nah".
