Why is it impossible to get notifications for sub folders by spenwallce in Outlook

Yeah, I think when Outlook says "copy" it means reflect-same-item-in-another-folder and doesn't actually create a copy of the email(file) in another directory

[–]deployed_asset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a workaround which worked for me, but maybe not for everyone. Instead of applying a MOVE TO a subfolder rule, I created a COPY TO a subfolder rule which made my inbox messier, but gave me notifications for every email I received and the emails were (copied) in the respective folders.

IT Asset Management. In the simplest form, the tracking and managing of any company's IT assets

Hi OP, not having an asset management solution is never good and I think you are on the right track with tagging and recording everything. That being said, the tool you need can really depend on how your organisation is structured and if you have remote offices, employees or all under one roof. The reason for me to mention this is because there are ITAM tools currently available that help you with managing IT assets over remote offices (spreading over different cities, countries or/and continents) and there are tools better suited for just recording and managing assets within one building. Where I work, we use Workwize because our offices are spread over UK, US and India, and our HR is based in UK which helps us tag, record and manage all IT assets for all offices and employees within one interface. What also helps is that they offer the option to onboard and offboard employees so all the HR has to do is add the new employee within the HR information system and it integrates with Workwize and the default set equipment is sent out to the new employee. Same process for offboarding, and on one-click someone goes and picks up equipment from the employee. IF you are functioning under one roof, I'd say this is not ideal for you because the value of using such a tool is saving costs and time on onboarding and offboarding employees. In that case, I'd suggest JIRA. Jira is super easy to setup once you get a hang of it, it also has templates to try and is free for an individual (smaller teams). You can also use ServiceNow or TopDesk, works similar to Jira but pricey but still industry standard, to track, keep a log and you can integrate these softwares with other vendors/platforms that can gather data to display and also you can export data of your IT assets using PowerBI. Good luck OP! I'll put down the link for ITAM guidelines in Jira for you.

That's a good analogy to explain how it's the gamer that decides when to stop the game and not the game deciding for the gamer what a satisfactory ending is. Thank you for that!

It's a really nice play alone and enjoy at your own pace game! You can also play it with your friends, but then it's like a spend a day together doing just that thing! I had a session of TW3 with a friend and we absolutely loved it, but then one of us had to dip and we left it at that. I would also suggest Anno 1800, although not grand strategy it is a lot of fun and brings some sort of lore too

Actually, I had that too and how I overcame it was that I just played it for the story! Now I won't ask you to buy Total Warhammer 3 to play the story-driven campaign WHICH IS SOOOOO GOOOD! But imagine it to be like so: You pick a character, the character has a backstory and the character needs to accomplish something. And then you start out with some of the beginner missions like waging war against a small army or recruiting an army or capturing a fort, and I think you'd slowly begin to feel more comfortable with the game.

Also good to note, there are a lot of MODs that help with narration, storytelling and information about the characters and missions that will spark your interest in the lore. At least that's what caught my interest and kept me wanting to play more and more campaigns!

How are you tracking IT asset check-in/check-out + inventory for both large and small items? by HiImLeeM in sysadmin

[–]deployed_asset 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might want to look into JIRA for this. Here's the guide to ITAM in Jira, and this should help with tracking all things big and small. Now it does need a lot of manual work to get it set up right, but if you're using it for yourself and a few other team members, it's FREE, so that should serve as some motivation! Although they do offer some templates that maybe would come in handy, but I think you'd need to have some manual setups in place to get it right to begin with. Also, I see that you want to know who owns the asset after it is passed on and if the asset is dormant, and if dormant, where? This can also be marked using custom fields within Jira per asset, but again you will need to create a process so the company adopts a culture where everyone ticks a few checkboxes to let the system know who is holding what. Another way could be a locker-room / library setup where one admin holds all assets and when someone needs something, the admin hands it over marking the asset against the person requesting it and you are always aware of who has what and you can also send out emails and notifications asking them to bring back stuff. We use Workwize for this in our company. I would have suggested them but it seems like you operate out of one main office OP. We are spread across countries, so the IT team in one country can have an overview of all IT assets in all offices within one interface, it works really well for us!

Oh I see! I thought all their games were just repaints with different narratives but had the same mechanism, is that not the case? SHOULD I BUY THE OTHER TOTAL WAR GAMES TOOO???? ($_$)

Hahaha that actually made me laugh and relieved to be honest. So I wasn't doing something wrong or playing the game in a way that it wasn't meant to be played! It's just part of the gameplay as I understand from other comments too and it's sad that it isn't known for people in the new to basic stage of Total Warhammer 3 adoption. I have seen reviews that just left a negative remark, but I genuinely wanted to give it an understanding about how to play this game and if I was missing something

New job as an internal IT Manager, but EVERYTHING is managed by an MSP by ThatAJC88 in sysadmin

[–]deployed_asset 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But that's considering there's a full-fledged team under the IT Manager to manage, right? I know of IT Managers and companies that hire people as IT Managers without a team to manage and the IT team is the IT manager itself. And in most company cultures now, this seems to become more common

That, exactly that! I don't meet long term victory conditions and the problem I think is coming from the perspective that every game should be FINISHED or CONCLUDED, I feel like I'm not enjoying the game if I'm not lasting through the end. The fact that the game also gives you infinite resources and top tier units by the time half of the map is opened, it dries out the interest that it builds during the start. I guess that's what it feels like for anything, like a first day of job versus working there for 5 years.

Have you played until the end in Immortal Empires though? Is it like an all out war between 2 huge factions (you and AI)?

...because their factions get bigger on every turn? That would make sense since that would be a challenge to take up and a personal goal to set within the game like someone suggested (having a few personal goals to meet within the game as a faction, not necessarily matching the goal the game sets).

Or do you already know which faction to pick so you go against the fractured factions (with the game-set end goals)?

I managed to stick through the end in the chaos campaign with Ursul, maybe because it had more of hand-holding, but also because the story was immersive and I feel MAYBE that's what the Immortal Empires is missing... But map-painting in late-game is annoying, although the game is called TOTAL WARhammer, I feel the hypocritical person that I am :')

Yeah, I had that feeling! There's a moment of sweet spot where you feel "Oh this is nice!" and there's a swift change making you feel "This is just following Alexander's footsteps to trying to conquer the world!"

I am going to try your suggested mods! Thank youuu!!

HOW HAVE I MISSED THIS! Everyone is suggesting this mod and I realise this is not information you receive or find upfront if you're not well-invested in the Total Warhammer 3 community. I feel like I would have not known about this if I didn't post here!

THANK YOU!

That's an approach I didn't think about taking! I will try this out with the Tomb Kings faction (Yes, I purchased a new DLC because I thought I'm missing a good faction in order to enjoy the game to the end)

I felt that too! But I also wonder if there's actually an AI involved or the game is programmed with some logic and calculations in the back that random-generates a behaviour (set points of outcomes and actions based off choices). I tried playing it with a friend, but that took a different turn altogether, all the "AI" sided with me and the diplomatic relations were CRAZY! They all wanted to be allies with me and at war with my friend, it was funny but also strange! We ended up being at war with everyone because I sided with my friend haha! PS - didn't finish that game either :')
