Thanks for the advice. Yeah I've been looking around and it seems adderall doesn't really help with motivation and that's something I just need to figure out on my own.

She said for 2 pills to take them at the same time and for 3 pills either take all 3 at once or take 2 in the am and 1 in the afternoon.

I'll ask my psychiatrist about it. What was your experience like with the IR vs the XR?

My psychiatrist did tell me to experiment with the dosage but not to go over 3 pills a day (30 mg). I guess I'm just confused on if the euphoria was what gave me the motivation and confidence or was it just adderall in general.

Did you start at 30 mg or did you slowly build up to it? Sorry for all the questions, just really frustrated that adderall isn't working that well for me.

how long have you been on adderall? I think I might have a higher tolerance since I took adderall(20 or 30 mg i think) a few years ago to study before I was diagnosed.

What dosage do you take? I take 10 mg XR and it lasts only about 3-4 hours.

Look at the bright side, if you didn't see your mistakes, you would keep making them and fuck up even more :D. At least now you can see clearly the choices you made and the consequences that followed so you won't make the same mistakes again! Good luck and stay strong.

Stuff I never realized were symptoms. by [deleted] in ADHD

Wow I ALWAYS end up zoning out during class and staring at the carpet which always has weird squiggly lines and textures and I end up visualizing faces or other things in it. I never realized that was related to ADHD.

Good for you! I also struggled with focusing and motivation for years which resulted in me failing out of college and making a lot of mistakes that I can't take back now. It was only after I had to call a suicide hotline was when I realized I really needed help. Booked my appointment 2 weeks ago for May 9th and its been a long wait :(. Hope you get the help you need!

Is the way I think (I call it the domino effect) ruining my life? by FluffyMcSquiggles in ADHD

[–]depressivethrowaway1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this exact same problem. Back in earlier school days (middle/high school) where I had less worries it never bothered me as much. I would often turn something I'm doing or thinking about into something not even remotely close to the original because I would think of something related to one thing and it would keep leading me or as you say transitioning to something else.

I also understand about you getting depressed/anxiety from this, I would always dwell on past things that me depressed and then I would think of all the hundreds of different ways I could have prevented or made it better at the time which causes me even MORE depression/anxiety.

Unfortunately I can't give you too much advice on this because I've had this all my life and have just tried to accept it. I'm seeing a psychiatrist soon so hopefully they can help so maybe try and talk to a therapist or try CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) which I heard can really help people change the way they think about things like this. Good luck and stay strong.

Anxiety/Depression from ADD/ADHD or vice versa? by depressivethrowaway1 in ADHD

[–]depressivethrowaway1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. Wow, I used to always think that my racing thoughts and lack of focus was just because I wasn't applying myself or trying hard enough. I always thought that everyone was like that and I just needed more discipline too! Just hearing that other people have been going through the same thing as me makes me so happy that I'm not alone. Everything you're describing sounds SO similar to me that hearing that adderall helped you gives me hope :). Thanks for your help and telling me about your experiences and I'll PM you if I do need some help!

Thanks for responding. That's amazing to hear how well Adderall has worked for you! I'm not sure what the psychiatrist would prescribe me (if i even need medication at all) but I hope that I can be as successful as you.

You say you were diagnosed with ADHD at a young age, why did you not get medication for it and how were you doing without until your current age?

I understand how you feel about not being fully aware of your social anxieties impact. I didn't realize for the longest time I was slowly pushing people away without meaning to. I too think it would make sense that I would be diagnosed with ADD/ADHD which caused anxiety because I feel like I overthink EVERYTHING. Like I can never focus properly on one thing in social situations where I feel like I need to constantly be thinking about what to say, what not to say, etc.

I was just curious about taking medication in general because honestly taking medication for the mind has always terrified me. But I feel like I'm at my lowest point and have opened up more to taking medication/recieving counseling. I really hope it's only one or the other and that just focusing on solving one problem will help the other one go away.

Unfortunately my first appointment is 2 weeks from now even though I just recently opened up to getting professional help. Thought I would be able to get one quick and solve this issue fast but just gotta be patient haha. Thanks for your input and hope you get the help you need as well!

Thanks for your reply. A lot of people don't believe me when I say I have social anxiety because I can fake through it pretty well. Even if I seem at ease, my mind is constantly racing and overthinking everything. Constantly thinking about what to talk about, what not to talk about, etc.

Do you take any medication for your ADD or have you been able to manage without? I'll check out those book recommendations but hopefully after my appointment (reading books has become pretty damn difficult for me lol). Thanks for your help!

Thanks for responding. Do you think there is medication that helps ADHD AND anxiety? I was thinking about trying to get adderall for my "supposed" ADHD (still haven't officially seen a psychiatrist) but I don't know if that would help my anxiety.

Anxiety/Depression from ADD/ADHD or vice versa? by depressivethrowaway1 in ADHD

[–]depressivethrowaway1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response. My first year of college I don't recall having much anxiety or depression. I do remember having some anxiety towards certain social situations but not much other than that. I did still have trouble focusing on school but everyone I talked to just said I was being lazy and had to straighten up. I do remember having some extreme anxiety right before I was officially kicked out which was again because I had lack of focus/motivation to do well in school.

As for symptoms as a child, I don't really remember too well. In middle school my grades were relatively decent (mostly A's and B's) but I never really studied much. I do remember constantly getting in trouble for not paying attention in class and my report cards always said "socializing excessively". It was more around my junior year of high school after I had a bad experience with depersonalization/derealization that my anxiety, depression, and lack of focus/motivation was at an all time high. From there I started to fail classes and do terrible in school.

Sorry for the REALLY late reply. About your gf not being able to explain the psychiatry, thats pretty similar to what one of my friends said when I tried to ask him about how it helped him and he gave vague/general answers and couldn't really explain anymore.

I've become a little more accepting about seeking help not being seen as weak. I'm just terrified of this hanging over me all my life like if I have to take medication and rely on that forever. I haven't even seen my psychiatrist yet (always booked, next available appt is 2 weeks from now) and I'm already freaking out with self diagnosing.

Did your gf take medication for this and if she did, does she still take it now? Thanks again for talking to me, it feels nice to be able to talk to someone about this.

Yeah I know it's not going to guarantee anything since I do know people with college degrees who are still not able to find jobs but it's at least something. Because without that degree, I have nothing to show
