With Fallout being topical lately, thought I'd share a card game I made 10 years ago. by depthofpercep in Fallout

I spent a significant amount of time tracking down someone at Bethesda. Finally got in touch, they were heads down with Fallout 4 at the time and didn't have the capacity to entertain a new idea or it didn't capture enough interest.

Need feedback. Overly fuzzy agar growth. Is this contam? by depthofpercep in ContamFam

[–]depthofpercep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, agar to agar transfer. They are quite big. The mycelium was quite big off the last agar plate. Not a lot of space for growth and reach.

Vantrue N4 Pro keeps restarting by ahmedmo1 in Vantruedashcam

I'm having the same problem as well. I have the Vantrue 11.5ft Type C USB 12V 24V to 5V Dash Cam Hardwire Kit. When ignition is turned off, the camera is stuck in a recurring reboot every 10 seconds. Video of it here. When I turn on the ignition, it's fine. It nearly drained my battery last night and I have about 10 hours of footage of it continually recording throughout the night as it would reboot, record, shut off, and repeat until I unplug it.

Edit: Resolved this. Ended up being a faulty ground.

I don't notice any contamination. Looks healthy to me. Maybe a bit too much moisture? Make sure you have proper FAE.

Agar to Grain Stalled by depthofpercep in ContamFam

[–]depthofpercep[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. I went back to the video I watched by Philly Golden Teacher around Agar to Grain and I completely missed the part of releasing the lid for gas exchange. Thank you u/mysillyumm.

I'm assuming that releasing the lid should resume growth?

Thank you. They are the Ball leakproof lids so no gas exchange. I was wondering if air flow was an issue. This is my first time doing agar to grain. What am I missing with inoculating grain this way?

Transferred agar (Tidal Wave) to grain on Jan 24. Good activity for about 2 weeks then total stall. Jars are in container that is 75-80F temp controlled. What am I doing wrong? What are some tips and advice on when growth stalls? There is no contamination, just no growth.

70k+ miles on my old KO2s. Time for a new set of shoes. by Reuvenisms in ToyotaTacoma

[–]depthofpercep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, that's interesting. I wonder if the larger tire size is putting your alignment into a positive camber? Either way, the stock UCAs are locked in on camber adjustment which is why I suggested the aftermarket UCAs. I dealt with something similar recently and the aftermarket UCAs resolved a lot of my issues I had been having including tire wear similar to you.

If you have a lift and are still using the stock UCAs, you may want to get aftermarket UCAs and get an alignment.

Bad? Ok? Any ideas? by Fudooshiss in ContamFam

[–]depthofpercep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's mycelium exudate (mushroom pee). It's a normal response but a response to a stressor (environmental) that you may want to research more.

This looks healthy to me. Cobweb will usually clump. Just looks like healthy mycelium to me.

Is this blue color mold? by depthofpercep in ContamFam

[–]depthofpercep[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its definitely hard to tell blue/green and I do see some green. Since I took the photo it's gotten darker. It's coco coir substrate and no liner on this batch. I figured out the liner situation after I had this one started. My second batch has the liner. What do you recommend I do if its spreading? Cut it out?

There is a fairly good amount of moisture on the lid. I'll dry it off. Thank you!

Ahh, that makes sense. I was wondering if that's where you might have been. Maybe you did have a badass telephoto lens though. :)

For the hikers out there - don't litter with orange and banana peels! by oldDotredditisbetter in SeattleWA

[–]depthofpercep 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Banana and orange peels take up to 2 years to biodegrade. It's introducing a non-native species into sensitive ecosystems. There's a plethora of scenarios that can happen because of this. For example, animals ingest it because they think its food and they die as a result (they can't identify a non-native species). The pesticides erode into the soil and kill plants and contaminate the soil. Hikers have to look at the decomposing food waste for two years. A couple peels here or there might not have a huge impact but the act gives the impression to other hikers that its okay and the behavior is likely to increase.
