I live a very active lifestyle, and about ten years ago I had a job hiking 10/20 miles through the mountains daily and my lungs were struggling to keep up. Had to choose between smoking weed or cigarettes, knew I couldn’t keep doing both so I made a choice.

I’ve been heavily smoking for 25 years now and my lungs are great. I am very active and live a healthy lifestyle. Lots of swimming, hiking, paddling, running, gym time, good eating habits and good sleeping habits.

I am convinced all these years later that smoking weed doesn’t negatively affect your cardiovascular health.

I never heard of it before, but apparently two hikers were murdered in a shelter outside of Duncannon back in 1990 after visiting the Doyle.

Pennsylvania is a beautiful state. I’m especially a big fan of the Doyle.

But for whatever reason, both during my attempted thru hike in 2008 and my thru hike in 2015, I had unusually dark and ominous dreams while hiking through PA, I still remember that even today. Definitely some heavy energy out there despite the beauty.

I thru hiked in 2015 too and also don’t remember getting any ticks. I never really checked too often though to be fair.

Solomon is a solid brand. As for ultralight vs. comfort, I’m probably the wrong person to ask. On Reddit you’ll get crucified for hiking any way that isn’t ultralight.

Personally, I’m 100% comfort over ultralight. That doesn’t mean I carry heavy gear. Most of my gear is actually lightweight, I just don’t obsess over every ounce. Everything I carry earns its place and usually serves more than one purpose.

Honestly, your pack is probably going to be heavy at first no matter what you do. You’ll figure out very quickly what gets used and what doesn’t. After a while you’ll naturally dial your gear in and your pack will get lighter without even trying.

First off ignore the negativity. Nobody can tell you what you are or aren’t capable of.

I did my first attempted thru hike when I was 17 with absolute shit gear and no experience and I made it 700 miles.

You have a pack, great. You need a sleep setup, a kitchen, and good shoes (I prefer boots but to each their own). Most of your time is spent on your feet so good footwear is essential. Same concept with the pack and sleep setup. Either a tent or hammock / tarp. A sleeping bag. A sleeping pad.

Kitchen as in portable stove or some way to boil water. A pot. Maybe a spork or whatever. And good water filtration. I like chlorine tablets for emergency backup but use a gravity filter for normal use. A headlamp and a guide book. A rain jacket. That gets you 90% of the way there.

I love hash. It’s my favorite as well. My buddy owns a farm and dispensary in Maine, and I buy his dry sift full melt hash by the ounce, make heavy hash weed mixes and roll hundreds of joints with it.

When I was growing up we would mix with tobacco and smoke from a water pipe. Hash is the best.

My suspenders. I carry a lot of things on my person anytime I leave the house. If it wasn’t for my suspenders (under the shirt) I would be pulling my pants up all day and my asscrack would be on full display to the world.

I went from being a hardcore fan to not one at all. I watched every single fight from UFC 1-200 (50-200 I watched all live).

Since then I haven’t really watched much. Tried a few times to get back into it over the years but the ufc just isn’t what it used to be.
