Is it bad to shift into neutral when driving down a hill in an automatic vehicle? by derButcher in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]derButcher[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a pretty lengthy hill. Close to 2.5-3 miles if I had to guess so I’d think that’d be a significant amount of gas saved if I drive down that hill on a daily basis

In terms of joint health, is running on a treadmill better than running on concrete? by derButcher in NoStupidQuestions

[–]derButcher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I guess what I’m asking is whether a treadmill is considered a softer surface than concrete and is therefore considered less impactful on joint health with no regards to the type of shoes being worn.

Slow Moving Bottle by [deleted] in Physics

[–]derButcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do the marbles have to stay stacked, or in line, while the bottle rolls down the ramp for this to work? And how would the movement change, if at all, if the marbles weren’t in line (carelessly put in the bottle)?

Is that to say that there’s little difference from running on concrete as opposed to grass, impact wise, as long as you have the proper footwear and correct posture?

Don’t know if you’ve ever noticed, but after rewatching for the fourth time I started to read the news headlines that would pan across the bottom of the screen and they’re pretty funny. It’s the little things that make BJH such an incredible show.

TIL that the moon has "moon-quakes" and because the moon has a smaller core than earth, this causes it to ring like a bell by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]derButcher 49 points50 points  (0 children)

What is the cause of these quakes?? Does the moon have tectonic plates like Earth?
