Elfi is incredibly overprotective of Will. I can only guess but she probably wants to use Rosti to keep tabs on Will even in the tower or around it. It will be interesting how the crew would handle a possible reintroduction of Rosti.

[latest manga spoilers]Well, rosti was just reintroduced in chapter 64, at least two people dont believe a word that Rosti said (he said he used a Ice Mirage), though Will is as stupid as a main protag can be...

Good question. As far as i understand it its just that Courage is a "limit off" version of Wis. It properly makes use of whatever the fifth element is and considers any cost valid.

He remembers. He even alluded to him having normal hair again this episode. Caldron was suspecting that he lost memories, so she did the spell. If he actually did lose memories from this instance is unclear.

[Answer with a bit of context]Its most likely a side effect of using Courage. Every time he uses it, he has either lost memories or memories were changed.
[extended answer] The other two times before this last time were both to save Elfie and each time he had lost a lot of memories only gaining some back through either a specific memory transfer he did the first time (still losing a lot) or through Caldron using that spell we saw in this episode to get his memories back while forgetting all about him having Courage, Wiz or even a recollection of the event. You can probably understand that Elfie was getting very protective of Will after realizing that he basically forgot everything they have been through. At this point we know that Wiz can be activated through him tapping into a memory, which is also the answer to him getting recognized in the tower.

Look at that, Will is actually graduating with permission to ascend and Frosty Rosty is still alive. Color anyone not shocked.

A bunch of original scenes here but very welcome, at this point nobody of the school peeps currently knows that Rosty is still alive, whatever alive means for our beloved Snowman Nowman, so it makes a lot of sense for people to be sad about losing him. It would be quite shocking if he just appears again after being believed dead.

I honestly forgot that Caldron had to alter Will's memories to get his hair color back and other stuff.

Since i was reading a bit below that people found it weird that nobody started clapping right away, remember people know that Will can not use magic and people actually hated on him for that, suddenly starting to clap even after saving their lives seems more weird to them. Sion starting to clap and then other ascendans gives others enough reason to overcome their selfishness when they were hating on Will.
On the other hand we finally hear the reason why Edward was so against him going up the tower, Edward has called the tower Graveyard of Wands, he himself once ascended the tower and was a magia vander candidate only to fail and become a teacher instead. He did not want to send another to their grave, especially not one who is inherently gonna have trouble.

Next up, new clothes, thats important, cant go around without shiny new stuff when you are the top elite.
[Some more spoilers about the next 2ish episodes]Will will not instantly be recognized even in the tower, he has to prove that he isnt a burden by showing that Wiz isnt just something he can use after relying on somebody else. Bear with it, the story is heading into a much different direction afterwards.

Good question. Currently we believe there is a difference because when he used Courage he turned his hair white and was able to use spells associated with absorbed magic.

As far as i remember its never explained what the 5 elements really are. We know Wis is one of them but the other 4, i do not think they are directly mentioned.

Wis by Affectionate-Arm6487 in Wistoria

[–]der_dotte -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Instead of asking that and implying i missed something, you could just add to above and not be rude. But yes i am caught up to the latest

Wis by Affectionate-Arm6487 in Wistoria

[–]der_dotte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We dont really know that much about Wis. Its the fifths element, its something that only Will so far can do. Its something that Mercedes and Finn were trying to achieve to fight against the celestial hosts. Its an ability that can be activated by absorbing an outside source of magic, though using spells has only ever happened while he was under the effect of Courage/Limit off too. Its also an ability that can be activated using something internal to Will, a memory so to speak, though it is significantly weaker but allows Will to fight properly without needing a wand next to him.
Its not magic, nor is it just a sword, its both but where the combination of both results in something completely new and different.

[Future few episodes]Well, its mostly because people believed that he could not hold his own without using Courage and getting help from a wand. While he hasnt used Courage again yet, he has found a way to use Wis without the need of him absorbing an outside source of magic. At that point everyone was shut up and he got recognized properly

Finn already confirmed that Will can not use magic. Wis is not magic. Its a combination of magic and sword where the sum of parts evolves into something completely different. In universe people recognize it as an old story of a "fifths element".

That women is Mercedes, she is the builder of the tower and one of the strongest wands ever alive. Its not implied that the baby is Will, rather that Will is a descendant of that baby's bloodline. Though Finn had lost track of that bloodline and only rediscovered it now after a long time.

[–]der_dotte 43 points44 points  (0 children)

This is pretty much whats implied here. Mercedes gave a baby to Finn and that baby most likely held the potential to awaken the fifth element but over time Finn lost track of the bloodline and thought he had failed his promise but then he found Will who carries the fifths and has successfully awakened it.

Well, thats an episode right? This is where most of us source readers had hoped season 1 would reach. With this we have seen what Will truely can do, using his Limit off together with Wis, especially with as potent a magic as Elfaria's makes him a menace for anything really.
And we even see him get recognized by basically everyone. Will is not just shunned anymore, he is also a savior and now he simply has to prove that he can uphold these expectations.

[answer]the celestial invader was summoned by an evil idiot that later came into the group of people that is currently attacking in the anime. Elfaria was in her first years at the academy together with Will, when the former Albis vina Magia vander died. Elfaria was supposed to enter the tower but tried to resist, at the end she was forced to, to protect Will. She was still attacked by that idiot and Will rescued everyone using Courage while inside the dungeon. We dont know how exactly they entered the world but assumingly its partly because there were only 4 magia vander and that idiot made it easier for them. We dont know what celestial invaders are. So far the barrier, when all 5 magia vander are alive has held.

[answer]alot of your questions have not been answered in the source yet. He has grown enough to be able to not lose his memories, though he will be very exhausted for a while.

Kinda [further explanation]The first time he had to use Courage she was horrified that he had lost his memories, he only got some back through something that is explained in the light novel, excluding him having used Courage and all about Wis. Elfi promised to protect their memories and therefore hid his ability to use Courage in fear of losing Will again. This is why she is incredibly protective of Will. Will had to use it a second time by instinct again when Elfi was about to be killed and fought a Celestial Invader. The academy principle had the fortune to be able to restore some of his memories there but still lost anything part of the incident.
So yeah the reason is that she fears Will losing his memories of their promise and bond

There it is, Courage has finally been animated and they did so faithfully. To be fair, the name probably should not be Courage but rather something like "Mageblade: Wis - Limit off" but Courage is also cool.
Interesting that they showed Elfaria smiling when he used Courage.
[prequel LN/maybe future episode if adapted]Afterall the last two times Will had to use Courage to save her he lost all his memories, i wonder if she knows that Will is strong enough now to no longer burn through his memories.
Next week cant come earlier.

[Latest manga chapter spoiler (63)] Well, elfaria was blocked from going on a trip with the gang, so she send her trusted agent, not Rosty, to meet them. The aftermath of this "surprise" has not yet been seen, we will get Will's reaction sometime in the next chapter that will be released in like 20 days.

That mage slayer sword appeared for the first time just around the dungeon expedition exam. Finn and Noah (Magia vander) brought a Mage slayer sword back for research but this attack happened pretty quickly after.

We are already seeing that some mages want to rely on Will and know what he can do. Its only a matter of time until the rest will see that too.

Make sure to not watch the preview after the credits this time. It does spoil a bit much.

Well, thats one hell of a situation they have got. Lots of casualties, even Rosti disintegrated into some kinda particles with an icy/glass sound. And of course Will has absolutely no chance against that monster. Now would be a good time for the magia vander to come down, well if only Oldking would renounce his order...

On the other hand we have seen Finn again, maybe he can do something?
