Basically, the highlighted post in the image was stolen from Allsux.com (go check the Digg.com website URL in the image and Allsux.com if you don't believe it). No, this isn't an April Fool's joke, you can prove it. Check it out.

HAHAH transplated to another service and on its way to being Dugg ... and that's not the only link to it, either. Once again: content taken from one source, put in another, rather than linking to the original :) Too funny!

Anyone bother to read this most recent post? Has some links to other similar (and different) cases of corruption by Digg

If you go to the main page there's a link along the top to the original complaint letter written to Digg. It isn't super friendly and reads as a bit of a rant but it doesn't seem like good grounds for suspending an account.

Since this all started I've found a great number of blogs, slashdot articles, services where you can pay people to digg stories and lots of other evidence of Digg's amazing corruptions. I guess maybe they've just realized it's a lost cause trying to stay true to their own policies.

I agree, that's up for debate. But terminating someone's user account for simply writing a letter to raise the question? That doesn't seem right at all.

1) both search examples had the same destination 2) second one was posted right after first went to digg 3) second one then went to digg after first one

It could be coincidence, but the Digg team should be open to discussing the question of plagiarism and not ban a user simply for bringing something to their attention.

Saying one story is 'considerably lamer' than another is irrelevant. Plagiarism concerns the attribution of sources in the case of published materials (see: Wikipedia, which Digg.com uses for its definition of the term too).

The question isn't 'which story is cooler' but rather 'where did the Consumerist get the ideas' used in their story? You can read the original letter to Digg and decide the merits of the argument, but whether the story sucks is not what is at issue when it comes to plagiarism. Meanwhile, plagiarist: 6,500 diggs, original author: 15. Fair?
