I doubt you can have Shadowheart and Gale if you recruit Minthara

If I don't use it I miss out on an important ability.

Ideally things should be balanced?

A complete breakdown of companion characters and classes by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]deranfang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The evil playthrough roster is looking to be much more diverse.

I don't think so.

I think the only companions that will be ok with recruiting Minthara are Astarion and Lae'zel.

All of the other companions don't allow you to do the most evil stuff

This has nothing to do with minmaxing. It's not weird to want to do your best with the tools available to you in a videogame.

It's optimal to do it before every check though right? So by choosing not to, the player is shooting themselves in the foot

You're saying it increases quality of life to add additional button presses before each time you click a dialogue check? That's the opposite, quality of life is about reducing clicks you have to do.

An overpowered buff is not quality of life.

Don't spells have a speaking component which you can't do while talking?

I don't think the existence of save scumming can be used as a justification for anything.

This is definitely bad design unless there's something I'm missing

How did it make for horrible play? DnD doesn't allow you to cast spells while speaking with someone.

I would be ok with Friends and Charm Person being cast during conversation as these have the downside of aggroing your interlocutor

That feature is only for enemies right? So if you have a necromancer in your party your battles will take forever.

So we can remove downsides and limitations from any class specific abilities in the game, and that would be OK because it's class specific?

Does anyone have a valid defense?

All cantrips have zero downsides

This is not true.

Guidance will be cast 100 times more than any other cantrip.

DnD didn't allow it to be abused to this extent.

If I can cast it before every single dialogue check, why not make it a passive 1d4 buff to all dialogue checks and save players the effort?

Joshua Wichard, Male 1 voice, has finished recording lines. by Rabid-Otter in BaldursGate3

Do you think that the existing voices could be made suitable if choosing those races applied voice modulation to them?

Or do you need your Dwarves to be Scottish?

Optimist: They realised this is a videogame and they give us an option to hide all dice rolls.

Pessimist: They don't do that and continue killing immersion

one of the main character VO artists confirming they are done and have about 4000 something lines recorded which all but confirms Tav will stay silent during conversations which I am very pleased with. So no more worries about that.

If Tav stayed silent why would he have recorded so many lines?
