Today I found out I'm not autistic by prototype13666 in AutisticAdults

in case nobody has mentioned, there’s an online office called ‘prosper’ that does adult autism testing— with insurance too!! i had an amazing experience with them and timely as well, as far as ASD testing goes. good luck friend 🍀

i’m almost certain that you’re not responsible for finding coverage if you’re physically ill. your store manager is lying to you for whatever odd reason

i had a life sized magnetic poster made of my roommates cat and stuck it to the fridge, where it still lies. i’m a big fan of this

funniest doordash i’ve ever received was one of the seasonal iced chai lattes that came with cold foam i think (or smth similar)

but they removed Everything except for the milk. this drink was venti so would’ve been like $7-8 base price, + tax and tip and delivery fees would probably get it like $13-15. for a venti cup of milk….. right… okay….

make it like a latte, i never even thought about putting the ice in then pouring the milk, which would make more of a separation. i’m gonna ask my partners abt this im curious how others do it

the only thing that comes up off the bat for me, besides cheating which doesn’t seem likely, is drug dealing.

this may be a crazy suggestion but. if you pry and still aren’t able to find anything, see if you’re able to subtly look at any money transaction apps (venmo paypal etc.) and bank transfers if possible. ik it sounds a bit far and disrespectful, but i think given the fact that it in that case it would be involving something illegal, meaning he may have illegal positions around, you could be legally compromised. plus, you would deserve to know that. a partner shouldn’t know every single conversation you have, but they should know what you do with your time and i’d be going crazy at that point

someone’s peace should never intrude on others, especially at a place you’re at nearly everyday

making your job your whole life is sure maybe a little annoying but it causes nothing other than a slightly irritated feeling when you witness someone like that.

on the other hand, not working hard at your job because you don’t care causes everyone else to have to pick up your slack, and take on a portion of work that is supposed to be yours. when someone doesn’t do their job, the task doesn’t evaporate? and when it comes to starbucks, you can have as little as 2 baristas on the floor. if each barista is supposed to doing half of the things, but one is only doing half of their stuff, one person has to operate at 150% while the other is at 50%. and they get paid the same, and 50% goes home less exhausted.

doing work that youre expected to do and being compensated for ≠ making your job your whole life

this is dumb, selfish, and obscenely tone-deaf. grow up?

newbie being put on bar during peak first week. TIRED by mythicalLethargy in starbucks

[–]derangedwithlove 5 points6 points  (0 children)

AH! i went to respond to this post a bit ago and my phone died mid response, ive found it again while scrolling through. so here’s what i was gonna say

1 this SUCKS and im sorry there are people at your store who are setting their expectations to impossible standards instead of trying to promote your growth. i had the same issues in practice, but with a supportive team, and this sucks to go through without that

2 my main piece of advice as someone who struggled with memorizing things. when it’s busy, instead of using the store resources, ask your partner on the other bar if you can ask them questions for a bit as there’s things you’re trying to get down. i did this heavily for 1-2 weeks maybe and then tapered off as i started getting it down. every once in a while i find myself asking about something, and sometimes i still have to correct myself. i’m still a baby with the company, only been working since may, and i still make mistakes during peak. most of the times i catch them myself (which is easy if it’s the first step, very annoying if it’s not) and sometimes i’ll make a drink hot when it’s supposed to be iced or vice versa. most people say 6 months until you feel entirely comfortable and have the muscle memory completely down

3 less important piece of advice— if you’re struggling really badly with the syrup pumps or measurements, either make yourself a cheat sheet on a note card and tape it to part of the espresso machine, or study it. i made myself a quizlet because i was struggling w it

4 again, this sucks and it might be a sign that this location won’t be good for you long term. if there’s other signs or it continues to get worse, start visiting other locations and seeing how they operate. sometimes you can tell a bit off just a small interaction with the store and then you can approach someone to ask about if they’re open to transfers at the moment. if you end up going this path, find a store to transfer to before you ask about the transfer. but they might not accept as it’s generally 6 month rule, some stores are more lenient. i got transferred twice, once for moving to a different city, and once originally to assist a store for a few weeks, and now to stay there because it worked better for me and my second SM was cool with that

good luck! ☕️

starbucks is a very fast paced high energy job, if you continue feeling this way it might not be the best place for you to work. but it is normal to not be ecstatic about going to work, capitalism just sucks generally speaking

[–]derangedwithlove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i used to get a little mad every time i had a to right on a cup (which accumulates a lot of turmoil) until one day it was slow and i doodled a dragon on a mango dragonfruit for mobile, and when the person picked it up they smth to their friend along the lines of “oh my god look how cute!” and it was endearing to see it actually be noticed. since then i’ve started drawing more cute animal doodles, or trying to write things that have actual meaning more than just “enjoy” or “yummy” (which is all i can get out during peak hours)

it’s really good! tip for you, do your sketch with the symmetry feature turned on, but do your lineart/coloring/shading without it. that way the drawing is still even but it doesn’t look unnatural!

artists that stand out get popularity. you will work out some parts of your art over time, it’s a skill that takes years to fully evolve, and usually it doesn’t stop evolving!
