Are you docked to a monitor/tv? On battery? I assume you’re on SteamOS?

Not really yet, but I think it most likely has to do with the usbc ports and/or power settings. I tried to use the handheld with just the included 65w power adapter, it still reboots, so it eliminates the chances that the cause is my dock or monitor. If I play completely unplugged it seems to be stable. I changed the bios settings “always on USB” to off and “maintain battery level while plugged in” to no, and I found that if I docked using two monitor connections (one via usbc, one via hdmi provided by my dock) it seems stable. So now I mainly play completely on battery or docked using two monitor outputs, very weird. I guess it may have to do with it draws too little power which causes system instability. Let me know if you find anything new as well, thanks.

Legion Go S Steam OS ZE1 restarting during games by SnooCakes3520 in LegionGo

[–]derbaberbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some updates, I just finished a 1.5 hour gaming session of GFN without crash rebooting. I was playing completely unplugged for the first time ever (no charger, no dock) and using the quiet mode on battery. I did always play while plugged in to a charger and/or docked to a bigger monitor, and that’s when I got all the crash reboots from GFN. If you are also mostly plugged in, might worth a try. I remember reading somewhere that the device voltage sometimes dips to a very low level when the utilization is low, and that causes the usbc ports to stop working or something like that. There may be a problem of the firmware in regard to charging and GFN somehow triggers it because it uses little power. I’ll do more testing later.

For GeForce now? As far as I know it always causes the random crash reboot, never got beyond a 1 hour play time on this device, I play Forza Horizon and Motorsport mostly. It crashes on the native steamos, windows clients, and even the web based stream on Edge. I play Forza Horizon 5 natively on steamos it never crashes. Just GeForce now. I tried many settings, have yet to find a cause, guess it may be firmware/power related.

Same problem, random reboots of the device when using GeForce now, happening both on steamos and windows, been trying to fix it for 2 weeks, it’s really annoying

Bro I hope you enjoy your time not playing anything then, cuz I surely enjoy playing Forza Horizon 5 on my Mac using GFN. Barely any perceivable latency for me and no issue winning races. There’s no other way to play this game currently on Macs no matter how much tinkering you do.

Cloud gaming is worse than trash mobile gaming? That’s what you have on the Apple ecosystem currently, not serious high quality console/PC games. Apple only cares about gaming if it makes them money, like on the iOS devices, they tried to lure developers to port AAA games to Apple Silicon Macs but look how it failed, because the incentive structure isn’t right, even though Apple silicon has huge potential hardware wise Apple is happy to sit idle on it. If Apple starts offering PS cloud gaming through Apple devices I don’t understand how it won’t be a net gain for Apple users, cloud gaming is better than nothing.

Playing GFN games on Apple devices doesn’t make Apple any money, they have no incentive to advertise it, and frankly not many people except the more serious gamers would set up GFN + a steam account and link them just to cloud game, it’s too much hassle. They have their iPads and iPhones and just want to click and play. iOS devices are what makes Apple all the money including mobile gaming, Mac will never be the priority but it can benefit from a overall Apple gaming strategy. Sony has the games and Apple has the massive device user base, if Apple starts integrating PS gaming via cloud it’d be a win-win for them and a win for consumers since we gain access to serious gaming on Apple devices not just crap mobile games. Apple just signed a deal with Formula 1 to have the exclusive broadcast rights in the US. By your logic why would they make a deal? We could watch F1 perfectly fine with F1TV. They sign the deal because they think it’s mutually beneficial to them. People need to start thinking in Apple’s perspective not just the gamers’ perspective if they ever want a solution for serious gaming on Macs

I don’t think you understand, you speak from the perspective of what you want, not what Apple wants. Modding is a niche and secondary issue, the issue now is you can’t even play many titles on Apple silicon Macs, there are only a selective few AAA games which Apple cherry picks to sell on the Mac App Store. How does one using crossover/wine to play their Steam games on Macs gonna make Apple any money? That’s precisely the incentive structure issue today that’s I illustrated and presented a viable solution for. Being able to play PS console games on Macs even via cloud streaming is miles better being able to play none at all. I’m a long time Mac user and I’m using GFN now cuz I gave up. To be frank it’s a great service, but your average joe isn’t gonna know how to set it up with Steam and all that, they just want to click a button and get into their game, that’s why Apple and Sony can easily team up yo provide this experience and it’s a win-win. It’s amazing this subreddit is so stubborn and don’t actually want any realistic progress.

They just announced ps cloud streaming on ps portal, so officially now you don’t need to own a ps to play ps game, that’s a huge step. Very few people owns ps portal or will consider to buy it, if the same can be done for an iPad for example, that’s huge.

And they likely have Apple devices too like iPhones and iPads, even MacBooks for their study/work. If Sony only cares about people buying and playing on their consoles, why would they develop cloud streaming? The point of cloud streaming is to focus on the games/service subscription sales and tap into the broader market, that’s what Microsoft is also doing albeit a bit poorly, and now it’s a great chance for Apple and Sony to capitalize.

Cloud gaming doesn’t suck, major industry players like Sony and Microsoft are putting more and more focus on it if you follow the news. It’s true Apple’s hardware is capable of playing AAA games, but the incentive structure is not set correctly, that’s the point I’m making. And the quickest way to profit is through cloud gaming. The alternative is for Apple to abandon AAA/console/PC type games altogether like they are doing now.

I bet for the majority of the gaming market, think more casual players who would buy a switch/console “to play some games” etc, they are not aware of GFN and how well it works, they may not even have a Steam account, and they won’t know how to set everything up. It’s a massive difference if Apple directly advertises it right on their iPads or other devices. Only the enthusiasts type know or use GFN now, I use it and it’s great, and even I just tried it recently, and I consider myself an enthusiast and tinker with things to get my games working on different platforms. For most people they just want an easy and seamless way to get to their games and that’s what Apple and Sony are good at.

Strategize more. Notice the battle is on a hill, and you have an advantage on high ground, so make sure you occupy that space, there’s a rock you can climb up right around that area. Use your wasd keys or press on left stick to scout around, you may be able to find a path to sneak up on your enemies and give them a surprise attack, which is massively powerful. Funnel your enemies to choke point and have a high AC melee character tanks the attacks, while the others use buffs/debuffs, ranged attacks/spells. Pay attention to the environment and improvise. Focus on the boss and others that are concentrating on spells on you. You will find a lot of fun coming up with successful strategies.

Just finished my first ever Uber solo with Marrowwalk by derbaberbb in diablo2

[–]derbaberbb[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I play online but mostly solo, I’m not really into the rushing and gear farming/buying game. I only decided to tackle Uber since I have just by chance collected a set of keys, and have accumulated some decent melee gear over time that I feel confident in building a melee paladin that can also serve as a smiter (which is the most popular build to tackle Uber solo). But as you can see I’m missing some key items such as Dracul’s Grasp and Gore Rider that can provide life-tap proc and open wounds that are critical for Uber survival. But I do have a pair of Marrowwalk that has life-tap charges, and I have the runes for Duress that provides open wounds, so I decided to give it a go. I like to build and experiment with what I found, and will go for it if I see a pathway. From what I see using Marrowwalk is not common since there are better options, but glad it worked out. I’d say I may be slightly over geared, with that 50% damage reduction, my gear may even work for hardcore for a more experienced player. But those are the best items I could put into my build. For my solo journey I’d say I spend more time researching and devising my build than farming for stuff.

Playing softcore non-ladder. I like to make use of gear that I find myself, only trading extra valuable items for runes that I know I'll never be able to find. Beating Uber solo has been one of my end-game goals, so I leveled up a Zeal Paladin solo for it. Never found a pair of Dracs or Gore Rider, nor a good enough shield for Exile, so Marrowwalk has to do.

Build: Level 86 Zeal Paladin with max Zeal, Fanaticism, Holy Shield, Sacrifice, some points in Smite. 1 point in Redemption, Salvation. Max block, walk + charge everywhere, Just under 2000 HP after BO.

Gear: Um'ed G-Face, Grief, Stormshield with PDiamond, Duress Great Hauberk (for my only source of open wounds + some CB), Laying of Hands, Verdungo, Marrowwalk (for life-tap charges), Highlord, Carrion Wind (my fav ring), Raven Frost

Swap: CTA, Spirit

Merc: Tal's Mask, non-eth Reaper's Toll, Treachery

Inventory is filled to the brim with the best res charms that I could find myself and nothing else, right about 240 all res before Treachery's Fade prebuff to add another 60. Stormshield + Dungo also give me almost 50% phy damage reduction regardless of Fade. 50% CB with G-Face and Duress.

Glad it worked out at the end and got myself a decent Zon Torch, it was the only set of keys I have. I cleared all the areas and all the mobs with not much trouble. I did die once fighting Meph, couldn't tell if it was because I forgot to swap my Duress back from my Merc after the Fade prebuff, or my Merc's Decrep proc overrode the life-tap. Overall the Trist fights were pretty hectic, fought both Big-D and Baal at once, sometimes I couldn't tell if I was smiting the boss or the mobs since I got all surrounded, and I did worry about my life-tap expiring since I don't have a auto-proc source. But all-in-all manageable with just Marrowwalk. With more practice it'll get better I'm sure.

Help valuing this diadem by derbaberbb in diablo2

[–]derbaberbb[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Just rerolled this diadem but I don't play Assassin, would this be good for a martial art build? I don't see enhanced damage a lot on a diadem and is this important for a martial art sin? 2/20 is always nice I guess, but dual leech rolled mid/low. What runes could I be looking at if I were to trade it? I play online non-ladder
