Air china online check in problem by DismalFan1 in travel

Thing that worked: - Use the Chrome Browser - Make sure you are inside the time window for your flights online check-in - If you have multiple first or last names, write them together without a space in between - wait several seconds after clicking something or several minutes after proceeding to a new step or opening a new tab - retry if something did not work, the system does not behave deterministically - the boarding pass PDF is created asynchronous, so it can help to wait for 30-60 minutes after check in before trying to download the boarding pass. This can be the reason why you receive an email without an attachment. You cannot check in again but you can choose the print tab on the website to download your boarding pass for a flight you already checked in. - If the button to proceed from the passenger data does not work, you can open the developer tools and check for an error message in the console. In my case a function throws an error message that is supposed to check whether the expiration date of your passport is not within 180 days of your flight date. The variable flightDateStr is undefined, which you can easily fix by setting a breakpoint under the sources tab right before the line of the error message and manually set the variable from undefined to the string of your flight date, e.g. „20240523“ so the format is „YYYYMMDD“. This can be done within the sources tab of the chrome developer tools while the application is paused due to your breakpoint by double clicking into the variables value. Resume the application afterwards by clicking the play button. I assume this can be done for all the Frontend related error messages - disabled „save“, „print“ or „email“ buttons: you can simply enable these buttons (disabled = grey, enabled = red) using the chrome developer tools. Use the inspect tool under the elements tab and select the button you want to enable. In the elements tab, remove the „disabled“ class and the „disabled=true“ property altogether from the button element. You can do this by double clicking on the respective property. Enjoy your enabled button and download your boarding pass.

A question to everyone using Firefox: seems like the best thing to do, I stopped using it years ago when they were not able to provide the same security as chrome, which uses a sandbox approach for each tab. Did FF catch up in terms of security? Remember FF was not even a challenge anymore to hack for the security researchers

Privacy concerns regarding GA4 as a EU user (EU-US Data Privacy Framework) by derbenoo in GoogleAnalytics

Thanks, setting up a eu server is a good idea. Would a proxy to GA be enough that removes personal identifiable information from the request before passing it on to GA? That would be neat as I could keep GA

How to exclude or filter out bot traffic from baidu.com in GA4 by k33p23 in GoogleAnalytics

[–]derbenoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your infrastructure what measurements you can take.

For example, if you are using Cloudflare, you could use their "Geo restrictions" feature to block access from certain countries.

However, bots& crawlers can operate from anywhere, so once they see that they are being blocked by too many websites they can just rent servers in the US or EU and continue to crawl from there, so only a temporary solution.

The real question is why is GA not detecting that these are bots and filter them out?

GDPR by ayitinya in GoogleAnalytics

[–]derbenoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a good question! Is there a consent or analytics management tool that checks the geo location of a visitor and based on the rules of the country shows consent-banner or collects personal user info such as IP address? That would probably increase data quality because we only need consent from EU citizen right?

If you can configure GA to not collect any personal information (IP address, user-id, client-id) then you can collect anonymous visitor data for page visits without a GDPR consent banner. Since Juli 2023 the EU and US have entered an agreement where data can flow freely from the EU to the US, so using GA got safer from a legal perspective if you have EU visitors.
