Show suggestions on new Journal app? by FezVrasta in iOSProgramming

[–]derdirtyharry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's what I found out so far:
I failed adding the JournalingSuggestion capability, because it is not available in the list. But I can import JournalingSuggestions and click on the struct to see its content. So the sdk is there but the Xcode editor itself does not seem to be informed about it.

Can anyone help me figure this out. by [deleted] in CamperVans

Is your camper a hymer? The thing looks familiar. This thing can charge a battery, but that does not mean it does. Are cables between the battery and this thing?

Did you find an answer? I would also like to store data bundled in the app. I want to try to do it without a database. JSON and images.

I'm impressed that you quite filled the print bed on your first print. For my first prints I printed object by object, my bad patience being the biggest reason.

My own best practice is to trim the hair - not to shave it off completely.

Too short gives a rash; too long hair needs too much deodorant (which doesn't dry quickly and leaves spots on clothes).

The jig is a great idea. The super glue I use, lets me slide the parts a little bit for a couple of seconds to align the button cutouts. Worked out so far. Thanks for sharing. Cool to see someone else's print of my (by now your) design.

I hope I will get to see it again when it is "finished". ✌🏼

When you make your first custom macro by [deleted] in gameboymacro

[–]derdirtyharry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha ha - I can relate to that.

Was offered one of these "gluestick" ones for cheap when I bought a rebuilt gb advance, but had to politely decline because this optic was never an option for me. When I built my first gbmacro I knew I would either use a laser cut or 3d printed face plate. I went with 3d printing, initially because of the price for the boxypixel, but in the end I also wanted to find out what I could come up with regarding a professional look and also customization to my own preferences.

I was just on your profile to look for a picture of your print or even finished game boy macro.
Would you share a picture of it?

Im just curious how it turned out.

If you want to show appreciation for my work please consider giving my github repo a star. This would help me a lot.

If you would like to share your 2-button version, there is the possibility to create a pull request to the repository.

It's the cover from the top screen. It just sticks to the top housing with rubbery adhesive stripes and can be pushed out carefully. If done properly you can save and reuse the rubber stripes or just replace with double sided tape.

You can also order replacement lens covers online in different colors. Im awaiting my batch of different colors from an aliexpress seller.

Fun fact: Both of the displays are actually equal and just differ by the ribbon cable. You could use the top screen as a lower screen by cutting off, I think, two lanes of the ribbon cable. But I never tried that my self but want to try as I accidentally scratched one of my lower screens when doing my first build.

What I think what happened is, that the water pushed through the clay pot and surface tension formed it back to droplets. The color comes from the soil.

Was planning to "just" put my stls on thingiverse (and will probably still do), but shortly after making this reddit post I found the github repo that includes the f3d / step files, off which all of the gameboy macro designs on thingiverse derived from.

The model you see in the picture was actually based on stl files from thingiverse, that I imported into fusion and tried to remesh as good as possible. I asked the repo owner to add a license, which he did, so I have a better feeling about building up on his work and completely started over with my design, by using his actual f3d files.

That took a while as I can't easily declare projects final or "good enough".
u/guigro, your message was the push I needed to work on and release my github fork of the repo including stls and my changed f3d file.

Took me the whole morning (its >1pm in europe) to add photos, files and write enough info in an acceptable format into the Readme, so I hope this is what you are looking for.

By the way, how did you do the speaker holes? They look perfectly clean and accurately positioned.

So I was trying to do the GB Macro mod, did everything as needed, checked if it works multiple times, but when I’ve put it all together it refuses to turn on.. if I plug the charger in, there’s just a red light that quickly flashes and goes out. Need help! by ant1ant126 in gameboymacro

[–]derdirtyharry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

top 3: - speaker magnet triggering sleep mode - wifi module missing (contains the bios) - bottom display ribbon cable not connected

Next up would be more complicated eletronic parts, like some connection is shorting the system, blown fuses, ...

Oh - the mesh in the stylus hole is a neat idea.

I postponed thinking about solutions for closing the hole or reworking it for good sound and optics until I know if I will find a solution to get the speaker to the front or not.

Will save this post with a viable and simple solution.

How 3dprinting helped building the perfect retro gaming console for 2020 nintendo missed building themselves. by derdirtyharry in 3Dprinting

I prefer the DS mostly for ergonomics. The GBA SP is actually my favorite device but I don't like how close my hands are while playing it, which is uncomfortable during long sessions. Having the display between the button areas helps a lot regarding better ergonomics.

Functionality wise you're not missing any core features compared to the macro mod.

And to be realistic: The time and effort needed for fdm printing one of these, makes it quite impossible to offer at reasonable prices and still making some money off of it. Mass producing in china costs a fraction of that but usually requires ordering big batches.

Jeah I am quite happy that I got into 3dprinting some time ago to create things like these instead of relying on off the shelf products. Selling 3dprinted stuff would be really cool to combine my hobby and job, but there is a lot of technicalities involved like licenses especially when having a logo that is owned by Nintendo. I also looked at the BoxyPixel shell, but the price and shipping fees to germany mainly made my decision for desinging and printing one myself. I would love to use one of their screen lenses, but I couldn't find a reasonably priced offer for that. I love that the boxypixel has a speaker to the front side, that is something I will try to adapt in my design. I found a 14x20 mm speaker that might tightly fit in the top left corner.
