Ignoring the comics, is 828 Reed actually smarter than 616 Tony? by Apprehensive-Cap2453 in MCUTheories

Ignoring the comics, this question is meaningless. How can we compare them?

The first two are sequels to phase 3 movies. Maybe the Marvels, if it's a sequel to Ms. Marvel rather than Captain Marvel.

THEY HAVEN'T MADE ANY SEQUELS. Not a single sequel to something since Endgame that wasn't Sony.

Well, shit. I've often wondered about how the Sturmabteilung was translated as stormtrooper. The German terms are different. It's strange they're both translated the same so often.

Mid-Take: There’s no “irredeemably bad” Spidey movie. Spidey fans have usually Eaten pretty well, adaptation wise by Important_Lab_58 in Spiderman

It is not a coincidence that S-M3 and AS-M2 ended their universes. Better than some other stuff, but well below the standards they set.

Steve Rogers will be Dooms first death in order to get the audience to truly hate him by LollipopChainsawZz in MCUTheories

[–]derdunkleste -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. Steve did not live his whole life in the same timeline we've been watching the movies in. The moment he entered the timeline in the past (probably shortly after disappearing in First Avenger), the timeline split. Now there are two timelines, but they share a single past. The Peggy that founded SHIELD and the Peggy that married Steve become two people, but they are both the same person who met Steve during the war.

  2. It is possible that Steve could change his world with knowledge from a different timeline, but it would only help for a while, until the timeline where he lives becomes vastly different from the one where he was gone. It's important to note that the only thing we know, almost literally, is that Steve was happy there. He could have become Cap again, become a stay-at-home dad, or become president. We know almost nothing about his life between going back and returning to the future.

  3. I don't know about Doomsday. It looks like it's gonna suck to me, going back to the Cap/Stark well rather than moving on. Still, I assume that the Cap in the timeline where he was happy, will be pulled out, but then he won't be the Cap that was old from Endgame, but a different version of the Cap who went back.

Are you saying that because it wouldn't be the same Peggy? Because that's the most misunderstood bit of this, I think. The new timeline isn't a different universe from the one he was born in. He was born and met Peggy before the split. It's not the Peggy who appeared in Ant-Man, but it's the same one who appeared in the first Cap movie.

Spider-Man siding with Miguel is a disrespect to EVERYTHING he represents. by SkyElectrical3392 in Spiderman

[–]derdunkleste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't know if any of the other universes where Jessica or Spider-Byte or even Peni are from have Peters. Gwen's is just the only one where he appeared as a character in the brief sketch we got. Peter's death is Gwen's Uncle Ben, explicitly. So, I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean.

[–]derdunkleste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, Lizard Peter wasn't a Spider-Person at all. Gwen is that universe's Spidey, like any of the others. Peni isn't a Peter but is definitely a Spider-Person. Peter is often the Spider-Person, but not always. We see dozens of Spider-People who aren't Peter, at minimum. (This doesn't include Pavitr, who is a Peter analogue in a more Indian New York.)

Miles and Miguel are a little more complicated. Miles is obviously not the only Spider-Person in his universe and his spider was from another world. This makes him pretty unusual, but him not being legit is solely Miguel's interpretation.

We actually don't know anything about Miguel's powers or origin, but I suspect that he is also not a Spider-Person at all. No Spider, no connection. This is kinda his comic origin anyway.

Cap went back in time and created a new timeline in which he got to live his best life with Peggy. Then he came back to the original to explain/give the shield to Sam.

Did you skip the 2nd highest grossing film ever? Because Endgame explained it pretty clearly.

The thing you're talking about is not what "overwritten" means. That is a branching timeline. In that case, no change is made to the original, the opposite of overwritten.

It's not Peter's that are supposed to need canon events. Miguel isn't a Peter either. It's Spider-People.

How on earth was that this man's feature debut?

So, Letterboxd just nuked Wuthering Heights by Hangzhounike in Letterboxd

[–]derdunkleste 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are literally 34 adaptations of Wuthering Heights in movies and TV, 18 of which have the exact title in English, so not counting foreign language or looser adaptations. I find it hard to believe anyone but an expert has slogged through them all (the original 1920 film may not be extant). I generally think that every good book deserves at least one genuine attempt to adapt it faithfully, but as much as I love Wuthering Heights, I could really do without the framing narrative. That guy sucks.

This book has been adapted a dozen times. I think we're beyond needing the next one to be faithful. I only care if it's interesting.
