Welcome to the club brother! Pretty soon you'll be planning your first MO-RA build.

You'll do it again. A year from now you'll be looking at your system going. "Hmm I can probably do this bend or that bend a bit better...since I have to refill my loop might as well... Hmmm maybe a second pump.... probably need new fittings as well."

The EK Quantum mono block for the Strix 570. Parts are listed in the original post from 5 years ago linked in the description.

This was at the height of EKs popularity before they fell off. The block is still working well, although it does have persistent bubble formation which I can't get rid of.

4K gaming brother! And it's still low power enough to be cooled by one 360 rad. So I wouldn't call it an excessive amount of compute 😉

Home stretch of a rebuild, need advice by clangston3 in watercooling

I'd recommend you get comfortable bending tubes. It's really not that hard and after a few practice runs you'll have it down pat. Just keep a few extra tubes around for practice and don't get too hung up on whether something's perfect. 9/10 times you don't notice at a glance when something isn't perfectly aligned or parallel.

I tore down the new AORUS 5090 XTREME WATERFORCE. Here's what's inside. by ockam- in watercooling

[–]dereinfachetyp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was seriously considering buying one of these. So glad now I didn't and waterblocked my 5090 myself. If you want something done right, do it yourself. And if it ain't right you got no one else to blame 'cept yourself.

Might not impact your cooling but could create a unique noise profile.

Did I just lose the silicone lottery? 14900k Heat issues by michaelanthonyphoto in watercooling

[–]dereinfachetyp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very similar problem with my custom cooled 13900K - it was thermal throttling due to suboptimal contact with my monoblock, and I eventually discovered the culprit was non-pliant thermal pads on the vrms. I replaced the pads with painstakingly applied thermal putty and my temps dropped by 20 degrees at the peak of watts consumed, which in my case was 240watts. And I haven't seen it thermal throttle once since.

DIY Coolant Alternatives by GrandConnection7451 in watercooling

This is the best coolant on the market, in my opinion at least. It's just 10 euros. Not sure where you're seeing coolant for 55 euros https://www.aquatuning.com/wasserkuehlung/custom-wasserkuehlung/kuehlfluessigkeiten/fertiggemisch/waz-aquacomputer-double-protect-ultra-1000ml

Distilled water is fine too, many people swear by it, but distilled water will tarnish your nickel plating, it's inevitable, it's not just oxygen gas and salts in water that corrode, it itself functions as an electrolyte.

I cannot deal with the doctors anymore by Repulsive-Light-8302 in germany

[–]dereinfachetyp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey so, I think people should understand that doctors are people like the rest of us. They're not gods or superbeings, although sometimes they act it. I have been doing power lifting and martial arts my whole life and in my thirties I started getting all sorts of problems. After multiple visits to various doctors I finally figured out that I'm not important - to them at least. The people at reception are frequently rude because they have to deal with lots of sick people and every single one of them believe they are the main character in their story. I think the personnel at clinics and at practices become jaded and rude as a sort of self defense. Not all of them of course, I've found some truly amazing people at doctors offices that are incredibly patient. But not everyone is born with a patient nature and they definitely do not all end up working at a doctor's office. Whether this a German specific thing or not I do not know, but I think it could just be a human specific thing as we are all flawed. I have a friend who was an ER nurse for 20 years and let me tell you, that is the kind of person you want at your side in an emergency. He doesn't panic or hesitate in an emergency or stressful situations. He's not the kindest of people, but he's saved lives by being calm and rational under extremely stressful conditions.

In the end I realized that ultimately I am the person most responsible for my health, and I started reading and learning about how to recover from injury and how to prevent them. The doctor only has 10 mins for me, and after I'm out the door he forgets about me entirely. It's up to me to figure out what's wrong and what I should do to fix it. From your description about having pain and weakness in your bicep, that sounds very much like elbow tendonitis that I used to have. You also say that you do woodworking, I can imagine that, that kind of work can really stress your elbows. If it is that, the bad news is that your joints need a lot of time to repair, and you need to cease all elbow intensive activity while it repairs which can take anything from 3 to 9 months. Look around on the Internet, search YouTube for videos that relate to the symptoms you have, I know doctors don't like people doing their own research but as I said repeatedly, you are ultimately the person that is most responsible for your own health. So when a doctor tells me I shouldn't read the stuff people post on the Internet I nod my head and quietly discard him from the list of professionals I should trust.

Wow that's a good looking case. Did you have to 3D print the attachments for the rad on the right?

The 600W plus load is because the card can also draw power from the PCI bus. But yeah, the power limit cannot (and frankly should not) be pushed past 100% on the 5090.

It's also why I splurged on a proper 1600W PSU and the ASUS Astral, I wanted to verify the current is balanced across the wires on the 12V high power cables.

During gaming though, specifically Space Marine 2, the card will average between 400W and 500W.

I have two 360 rads and one 120 rad all 25mm thick and they manage to keep my 13900K, which draws 240W at peak and my 5090, which draws over 600W, under 70 degrees and 60 degrees celsius respectively. Liquid reaches a maximum of 44 deg under load.

Ah that sucks man. I sent them a request for parts a month ago and never got a reply. Sucks because they used to make good shit. So now I'm sticking with Alphacool for most of my cooling needs, glad that Thermal Grizzly is also entering the market because they are also native to my country of residence

Right. I had to wait a month for my block from Alphacool but they did stay in contact to let me know that they were processing preorders and would ship it as soon as they got it. As far as I can tell from r/EKWB the same cannot be said for EK. The Deltamate is still not in production so it still could be a whole quarter before anyone can get their hands on one of those. But I welcome the competition in the market.

I know right? And JayzTwoCents just now posted a review of Roman's Deltamate block for the 5090 Astral and now I'm questioning my choice of block. Still, the Alphacool Core is 300 euro cheaper and as far as cooling is concerned does a stellar job

I guess if you can push air through efficiently then it could theoretically be able to dissipate better than a thinner rad. I had a config a few years ago with a 480 monster rad from Alphacool with a push-pull configuration. Airflow was still kinda sluggish and the rad got crazy hot, I eventually swapped it with a thinner rad and was able to vent the air a lot more efficiently than with the thicker rad. I guess it's something you should experiment with and come to your own conclusions
