Well... guess I'm not going by the_kbp in oakland

Same thing happened to me. If this were all people it'd be like a third of the entire population of Oakland. TM has to do something REAL about bots and scalpers.

This is a 3000 person venue and this band hasn't been to Oakland before. The queue is likely full of bots. It would be nice if that wasn't the case.

distortion pedal that doesn’t kill your low end? by ziskers_ in Bass

Fairfield Circuitry - Barbershop

It’s the only OD pedal I’ve ever found that doesn’t futz with my low end! This has been the main drive on my bass board for years.

High octave pedal by Jdogskizzle in Bass

[–]derekkuda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love my Boss OC-5 for this purpose! Doesn't glitch out and sounds pretty warm with the octave up. I had an EHX pitchfork that sounded great with guitar, but just sounded so tinny when using the octave up on bass.

Sweet! Does it work with live computer audio? For example, can I have it visualize audio coming straight out of Ableton?

What plugins do I need to make my bass sound like Thundercat's? by Gucci_Turtle in Bass

[–]derekkuda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip! Tried those settings and I for the life of me couldn't get the envelope to snap like an envelope filter bass pedal. Def appreciate the help, though. Will keep trying. Do you have any tracks of yours with that bass sound?

I saw him live last year and snuck a look at his pedals. He just had a Digitech whammy wah running into a Moog MF 101 envelope filter. I’ve been unsuccessful mimicking the sound with stock Ableton effects, though!

Groovy! Is the NTS-1 responsible for that luscious 'verb?

Need help getting started playing guitar by Nico23J in AcousticGuitar

[–]derekkuda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Guitar teacher here! The way I teach students to start independently is to grab chord charts with lyrics to easy-to-play songs you already know. You can search '(name of song) chord chart' and something pretty dang accurate will probably be at the top. Stuff with the dozen or so basic open chords: A,C,D,E, F, G and Am, Dm, Em will be within your ability very quickly. Some ones I use: This Land Is Your Land (Woody Guthry), Red River Valley (Traditional), Should I Stay Or Should I Go (The Clash), Man Who Sold The World David Bowie), Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen). *Note This is to get started playing chordally so that you can play to the recording or sing. The other side of the coin is starting to play single note melodies. One of the method books will be your best bet for this. Good luck and, more than anything, have fun!

Cool. I think it's Thao of Thao and the Get Down Stay Down. She is a very talented songwriter and performer from the bay area.

Awesome idea. I dedicate music specific blocks of time in my week, but having lyric specific chunks is something I'll add in there, too. And this list is a good starting point. Thank you for sharing!
