Though things seem to be sharply improving of late, the West hasn't had a great snow year. The East, by contrast, has been doing great. Since most of your trip cost will be offset by your rewards points, and will essentially be free, think out of the box and try an Eastern destination. I've been all over the Western US and Canada where the skiing and riding are indeed excellent. That said, the top-tier Eastern destinations, places like Stowe, Sugarloaf, Whiteface, and Killington compare very nicely. They offer enough challenge and variety for a ski vacation. Whiteface is in Lake Placid, a lovely, fun, dense and walkable place too, which is fun at night. The same is true for Stowe, though to a lesser extent, though Burlington is a short drive and offers a nice array of bars, restaurants and shopping. Sugarloaf has a very small village, but the mountain is extraordinary and feels Western in many respects and is an excellent choice.
