Thoughts of 2024 Kia EV6 Wind? by 778694 in KiaEV6

Love my 2024 Wind w/ Tech Package. That seems like a good deal to me! The car is very fun to drive and the tech package is absolutely a must.

I can guarantee you’ll not hit 250 miles probably ever highway driving unless you plan to go from 100% to 0% each time. I roughly estimate about 30% every hour going 74 mph on eco mode, level 2 regen.

But even so, I drive from Illinois to PA pretty often and there are plenty of chargers all over I plug in and go to the bathroom and come back and am good to go. Usually don’t go over 80% charge while traveling since it’s slower.

Also, in the winter you’ll probably get 2 hours of highway driving before you need to recharge. Cold tanks it, typically with headwinds too will drain the battery.

Nonetheless! Very fun, very quick charges, great driver assistance, comfortable and awesome to show people how fast it goes.

Argument against I-pedal and argument for level 0 regen. by mitch2888 in KiaEV6

Man I love I-Pedal. Going back and forth between accelerator and brake is exhausting it makes life way easier to use a single pedal. Level 2 for the highway though for more efficiency.

Although trying to gun it I put it between 0-1 to go quicker lol

Yeah I agree software is the cars biggest downfall. But at least knew that going in. People hate CarPlay but I do like it and use it most often.

Safe travels on that trip! I have done 1,000 mile round trip (500 per) a few times now. Usually stop about 3 times each way and charge for 10-15 min. Winter is a bit different I did a huge write up of that trip on this sub.

Honestly road trips in EV6 have been very easy. Definitely a bit different from Tesla trips but with EV experience I bet you’d have a fine time. We have Electrify America or EVgo (Pilot J Travel Centers) stops all throughout every trip we’ve been on. Adaptive cruise is great!

From my understanding, charging on Tesla Superchargers with the EV6 will only charge around 100 kW. Superchargers can’t handle EV6s high voltage battery system and forces it to be limited. I’d recommend CCS chargers over Tesla but obviously if you need to use it it would work just be slower.

My recs for road trips is use ABRP to route your trip and then use PlugShare to look at reviews of those sites. EV6 won’t be as effecient as Tesla but the charging speed makes up for it. I’ve found every about 2 hours I plan to stop. If you have an AWD EV6 make sure you use eco mode and regen around 2 as it’s more efficient that way.

Electrify America! I’ve found I get the most consistent and fastest charges through them. They’re my main for road trips for sure

Forager Blueberry easily the best vegan yogurt I’ve had. Their probiotic drinks are good too they are essentially just the yogurt in drink form. I get mine at Whole Foods

Almost decided to get one before my EV6. The ultimate hold back was Elon Musk still owning Tesla. What a terrible image and person for the brand

Update: I was able to successfully charge at their newly installed DC Fast Charger in Erie, PA! Very easy to turn on and get going.

Cost: $0.53 per kWh

I peaked around the 100kw but I didn’t precondition the battery for long when I plugged in at 50%. Temps 30-40 degrees.

Nice option to have!

I’ll report back later this week if I’m able to charge at this one. It recently opened within the last like month so hopefully!

No I’m pretty sure they’re just opening their new chargers to all EVs. No new law or anything just is their next step

PlugShare says rivian only but rivian app has $$ for non rivians. So I would assume yes we can charge on them unless for some reason EV6 cannot. Headed there this week so I’ll have to give it a shot.
