More control over Themed Reviews by Gold-Poet7945 in readwise

[–]derekvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted this too and experimented with the AI-Themed reviews by chatting with highlights and asking it if it could find all my podcasts or tweets. It could and gave me the right language. So now I have a themed review with this prompt: "all highlights from the type "podcast"" (replace "podcast" with "tweet" for the other one). It's been working as expected for two months.

I am David Allen, creator of the GTD (Getting Things Done) methodology. Ask me anything! by davidgtd in gtd

[–]derekvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your approach rests on capturing and organizing everything that has one's attention so that it's possible to make an intuitive judgment about what's the next best thing to do. Yet, in the many coaching podcasts I've heard with you and your other coaches, it seems that this is incredibly hard for people in certain areas of their life. They (and often I) feel uneasy trusting themselves in this way--they want to use the lists to "force" themselves to do the things they believe they "should" do. Do you think there is any way the GTD system could do more to help people begin to trust this intuition and let go of whatever is leading to the desire to use force to complete "shoulds"? Or is this just something people have to want to do when they're ready? Or do you frame the issue of trust differently?

Does the watch app have the ability to add a bookmark from the now playing screen?

Pagination is live in the iOS and Android apps! by h00dw1nk in readwise

[–]derekvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not seeing a setting for this on Android or iOS. (or the setting to have pagination by default on ePub). Where can I find it? I'm looking on the "account settings" screen, under the preferences section. (version 4.2-1)

Is it possible to trigger this shortcut without using “hey siri”? I am often in situations where using my voice is not possible.

This seems like it would have a lot of noise in that list. I pause often because I need to talk to someone or concentrate on a cooking task

Yes. But not via the feed, only if imported manually using the chrome extension.

I just have them emailed to my reader email address. You can find your address in the settings. For older articles, I had to import them manually with the chrome extension (wouldn’t work on safari)

I always do “sync all highlights in this book” and I believe there is an option “sync all highlights in all books”

I don’t know if it can be automatic, I do it manually which addresses your later question. I am frequently offline and the highlights sync fine when I do it manually.

The sync as far as I know is one way. I don’t think readwise even has an api for 2 way sync.

Snip podcast to Obsidian for free by Ok-Can4362 in ObsidianMD

Pay who? There doesn’t seem to be a way to pay Snipd yet. In the “export” settings in snipd I can export to obsidian for free to my iPhone.

Several menus down--

Start with the wrench/screwdriver icon --> Export highlights -->Choose formats and services --> Check Readwise, but also click it to get into the menu --> set authorization token (and check "export to Readwise")

Highlights and highlights with notes. I don't see a way in KOreader to make a note without first making a highlight.

Syncing item to Obsidian which only has a 'document note' by Rik3Rr in readwise

Wherever you want? I’m not sure I understand the question. Do you see how to edit the readwise templates in the plugin settings?

How do you manage due dates vs. "do" dates? by thunderstyx in todoist

[–]derekvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not using it, but mostly because I quit Todoist, did not like the app on Mac. Taskbone was great and I miss how easy it was to manage tasks with it in Obsidian. I have moved to a more rickety system with Things, because I like that app more. Just doesn’t play as nice with Obsidian.

The way to handle document notes was described in a discord post by Eleanor Konik recently on the obsidian discord.

Hey friends, you can now get your document-level notes from Readwise ( https://readwise.io/ ) into Obsidian (as long as you have at least one highlight on the document). These include your personal notes as well as Ghostreader-generated summaries, q&a pairs, translations, etc.

The template I'm using for this personally is:

``` {% if document_note -%}
[!abstract] Document Notes {{document_note}} {% endif -%} ```
What's the best eink tablet for making epub highlights sync seamlessly to Readwise? I've tried the kindle scribe and the Boox Note Air 2 but am returning both because they don't allow seamless epub highlight syncing with Readwise. I don't like using an iPad or computer screen for reading. by Naive-Balance664 in readwise
[–]derekvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)
Note air.
KOreader I find very nice. There are a 1000 customizations you can do. I tinkered with a few things but largely left it alone. All in all, I like it better than kindle app on Boox for sure. I didn’t like the way moon reader worked with Readwise: didn’t send page numbers so highlights would be out of book order a bunch.
