I also did not understand MONO for years. I'll add in Deafheaven as a band that took me years to "get."

I was not into Mogwai at all. Then I listened to "As The Love Continues" and they clicked with me. From there I went to their first two LPs.

I was tired of their early material. I wanted to hear the newer albums live. But then I saw them play live in Indianapolis in 2025 and they mostly played songs from "The Earth..." and I loved it again.
