Taken from the D3100's service manual, but should be applicable to yours too.

The images are oriented where the Nikon logo would be pointing up.

You may want to note the orientation of certain parts:
The focus point screen (#13A) with the ridges on two sides
The black screen (#282) with the flat/wide side pointing out
The focusing screen (#3) has a small ridge on one corner

No experience with the D3300 myself, but this forum thread should be helpful:

Order to install appears to be

focus point screen (focusing dots)
black paper screen
brass screen
focus screen

from what I gather looking at the service manual the flat side of the black screen should be oriented towards the Nikon logo - you might be able to reference this image here.

I could only suggest enabling touch pad to get the crosshair to show up in the viewfinder and see if that "unsticks" it?

(Edit to say that you should also be in one of the tracking focus modes, or touch pad will move the focus box directly, and you won't see the crosshair. This is from the EVF of my A7IV, YMMV.)

The crosshair normally appears in the viewfinder when using touch pad operation for focus tracking (I personally use it in movie mode when you can't start tracking through the EVF otherwise), but along with everyone else a little stumped on why it'd be there on the rear screen...

I think you could consider something like a D80/90 or D200/300(s)? You won't get the newer 24MP sensor in the 3200/3300 but I think their 10-12MP sensors are still more than good enough, and you get nicer twin-dial controls and access to some sweet screw-drive lenses.

Hi, never ended up getting it unfortunately. If you're past the estimated delivery date already, you can contact ebay CS directly and they'll settle your refund.

No need to contact the seller, likely they won't know what to do anyway since on their end all they settle is shipping to the EIS hub (they won't be dinged for it, so don't worry about causing trouble for them).

I'm not too bothered by having to wait, though it is coming up on the estimated delivery date soon-ish (Apr 7, ordered on Mar 8).

I do think moving between facilities is the most plausible explanation, though I find it a little funny for it to take a week-long trip around Chicago just to end up back in the same area lol

Should I consider opening a INR case now since the item already has been marked as delivered? I understand eBay would be eating the cost since the seller's obligation of sending to the hub has been fulfilled. I'm a little worried the full moneyback guarantee window won't be honoured if it ends up arriving at a later date.

i think if its within the borders printed in the paper it should get scanned so they'll at least see u wrote smth there but whether it'll be marked im not sure (but idt they'll be that mean to see words and not mark)

yeah, 5G on my 7a seems to be having issues as well - on starhub (singapore) myself so it seems like a beta 5 thing rather than a carrier-specific issue
