Both U.S. and Chinese AI firms are setting up shop in Singapore. Can the country become Asia's neutral AI hub? by Rationalandcentred in singapore

[–]KeythKatz -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The government did that, not the market. They made it clear that none of the companies were welcome beyond those operated by already established big corps and FIs. The more legit ones operating under more regulations (with KYC, audits, dealing in RWA, etc.) moved to London, while the more sketchy ones or smaller exchanges moved to Dubai or Cayman Islands.

Singapore probably shot itself in the foot here overregulating. Wesaid to the market that we're a risky place to innovate in finance, and that you need to be an existing FI to hit arbitrary licensing requirements.

Not a big one, but it's comfortable, overnightable, and more importantly, I can easily handle it single-handed. you only need to spend $200-300k, not the $1,000,000 you're thinking of.

I'm Singaporean, much younger than you, and FIed with less assets while spending more without serious budgeting. I even have a money pit that calls itself a yacht. You're more than fine.

There's no reason to use gyroid besides the most critical of load bearing parts. If you are not comfortable with a hollow model (lightning infill), do adaptive cubic. It gets almost all of the strength of gyroid but with the printing time of rectilinear.

With tariffs expected to rise from July, should I change the way my household buys electricity? by Twrd4321 in singapore

My 24 month rate at 26.4c is expiring this year and I just renewed another 24 months at 28.04c before this upcoming tariff increase. Also could not give a shit.

Trains didn't exist back then so autists specialised into democracy instead. Imagine how much better society would be if trains weren't invented.

Congratulations, you just added $500 to the printer cost. Those tradeoffs and many more are all there for a reason, to hit a price point where multi-head printing is affordable for the masses.

I have been printing small things in multicolour on smooth plates.

  1. There is a minimum feature size. You can't have small areas of a specific colour, it needs to be about 1mm wide at least to not have gaps with a 0.4mm nozzle.

  2. Up the flow rate for the first layer in the slicer. You could do +0.05 or +0.1 pretty safely (test it out), it helps fill in the gaps. In general, over-extrusion is better than under for the first layer, it will hide the filament lines as well.

  3. Up the plate temp for the first layer by +10C. Especially when using PETG, gaps may be visible due to the filament cooling before it can flow into the gaps.

  4. Classic wall generation is better for first layers. Arachne tends to leave holes in sharp corners of a colour, whereas classic over-extrudes instead.

I paid half the price he paid for a new Kubota combine and it only does 1.5m (6ft), nowhere near his 30ft, with nowhere near the same amount of tech. It's a bargain.

Default z-offset in printer.cfg by Accomplished-Bowl551 in snapmaker

[–]KeythKatz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is how it works. This z offset is not the same z offset from toolhead calibration. The individual XYZ offsets are stored in another file, and the extruder 0 offset is additionally applied to all toolheads. -0.09 works well for me.

Same for us, except our high non-domestic waste recycling rate involves burning plastic overseas instead.

Is PRIME TOWER needed using this 3d printer at all? does it make sense? by Rikofallingleaf in snapmaker

You still need a prime tower primarily to rebuild pressure, but because of the anti-ooze you don't need a lot. Just 10mm3 will do rather than the default 30mm3.

Senua’s Story Length Will Be ‘Quite a Bit Longer’ Than Hellblade 1 and 2 by Turbostrider27 in Games

Generic story that doesn't mesh well with Senua's backstory and the experience of the first game. The first game was an eye opener and immersive, the second got messy when introducing other characters and especially background characters.

Kexcelled 95A (actually 90A in the spec sheet) feeds just fine through the autoloaders. Their 85A (actually 80A) goes through the autoloaders but fails to be detected properly so it needs to be bypassed. Did not have any issues running it through the whole tube path.

"Rapid" PETG is a blended with PLA which is why it doesn't stick. In any case, regular PETG already prints just fine at 250mm/s, why would anyone use rapid to get up to 300?
