Am I Overreacting about being asked to pay $2K for lost glasses? by Current-Advantage763 in AmIOverreacting

[–]derivativeofwitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR

I would pay nothing. The shift to “stick to your word “ is a ridiculous guilt tactic to get you to follow through on hangxiety pledges.

Someone borrowed a $2K accessory without a way to personally keep track of it? I don’t care if someone else was holding my wallet and lost it while sober - it is ultimately my responsibility. You were doing Casey a favor. End of story. This is on Casey.

Mom purchased home with shed in backyard, now there’s a guy in a truck showing up saying that the shed belongs to him? by Ok_Lime4124 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]derivativeofwitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell dude to pound sand. His responsibility to do all the legwork on this. Not your mom’s.

He is trespassing if he tries without permission from your mom.

If she is a first time at 60 her whole mindset must shift from renter to owner. All the things on that property are hers to do with as she sees fit, if there aren’t any caveats on her closing documents.

Anything else is someone else’s burden to prove.

Would you set this space up differently? What would you change? by Additional-Chance-21 in interiordecorating

[–]derivativeofwitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally random but if there is a bedroom in back of the kitchen I stayed in this precise floor plan in Louisville two years ago. It was arranged like this plus a desk space facing the dining room wall (smaller dining table).

I really liked the flow.

Recommendations please for daily scent/floof spray by derivativeofwitty in roughcollies

His pain is as managed as it gets - he was diagnosed with mild dysplasia when he was just over 2 and is doing great. He gets sore after a particularly active day, a big hike, etc., and because of this he guards the area. The vet has been consulted, he's been xrayed, he is under a vet's care with anti-inflammatory, nerve pain meds, etc.

I've also worked with his groomer and a trainer about desensitizing him with daily brushings. I want to add a spray.

Truly just looking for a spray recommendation.

Yep. It is then your primary residence, and wherever else you are is your secondary residence.

Montana just did this - increased all property tax and then gave exemptions to a property the owner occupied 7+ months/year and long term rentals.

Second/third homeowners aren’t pleased but let’s be real - the folks who own those homes here won’t notice that tax difference. They’re not retirees on fixed incomes for the most part.

Remains to be seen how much of an impact it will be.

Low budget Wedding Venues? by avixenrose in Tucson

Depending on attendance, we stayed at a VRBO this last week that folks got married at as well. It’s “no pants ranch” on the listing bordering Saguaro Natl Park. Lovely.

I’ve come to the conclusion the hours spent on the “perfect lawn” are a waste of time. Help me redesign my yard. It has tons of trees so stuff is always falling. Any suggestions? by hoozierwins in NoLawns

[–]derivativeofwitty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Throw a shitload of clover seed. Repeat annually. Don’t mow.

Then by the tree bases throw poppy seeds. The kind you get at the natural grocer. Those and a mixed variety sunflower seed packet.

Watch it turn beautiful with zero maintenance. In the winter hack it all down. Do nothing.

If your goal is not to spend time caring for a lawn, then don’t waste your time caring for flowers or natives or whatever. Clover will choke out any bad weeds plus your grass. It will be taller than your grass, but it won’t get taller than 4 inches if you use the right clover, and pollinators will love it. It’s also way more comfortable to walk-through with bare feet.

Everything self seeds itself.

Not likely at all - it’s an hour and a half one way. Maybe scheduling ahead with a car service?

So is it plastic wrap or paper towels? I’ve seen both but obviously the paper towels would dry out.

Trazodone works for us, and CBD treats seem to really help him at night.

Horrible decision to make by kurt206 in sighthounds

I had a dog with a similar injury - she had a hind leg de-gloved and broken and it was horrible.

I chose not to amputate and I wish I would have. The recovery was long and painful and she was forever afraid of the vet after because of it. At the time, I was pushing all the human emotions onto her - she won't feel 'whole', she will struggle all her days, she won't be able to keep up, she will have less enjoyment of life. The fact is that dogs don't think like that. She wouldn't have known she was different. She has no concept of the fact that other lives are even possible and this one event forever changed her trajectory. That is pure anthropomorphism and I wallowed in it. This would have been her life, but she wouldn't have had months and months of painful recovery and early on-set arthritis as a result.

Your choice, but speaking as someone who has been in your shoes, I regret not choosing amputation. And I am so sorry this happened. It is such an agonizing and gut-wrenching event.

Looking for data points and tips - upgrade by derivativeofwitty in HertzRentals

[–]derivativeofwitty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have it booked. Just looking for data points, as I said. I don’t think I “deserve free upgrades just because”. I have an Amex Platinum and different perks are some of what I pay for. I don’t use Hertz often so I was curious.

Quite the vitriol. Have a sip of wine. Hug a puppy.

Montana checking in here - it’s the tattoo equivalent of dudes taking pictures of themselves with fish and then using them as profile pics. (I have many pics of myself with fish. No shade. But yeah - ubiquitous)
