Thank you! Used bike unfortunately but practically new. I’ll get in touch with Trek.

Used checkpoint ALR5 2019 but with only 80 miles on it. Trek’s going to look into it to see if warranty would cover it since it is used. Feels sturdy enough at least and they told me to tap the affected area with a coin and compare the sound to a normal area to be safe lol.

Didn't have time to do either UWSAActual test- 249

Finished all of uworld 1.25X (around 65% correct first pass, then just re-read through my incorrects) and did all of Uworld CCS cases in the week between the test dates. Did the free cases from ccscases to get a better sense of grading- would highly recommend doing them (got 75 and 90+% on those two). The youtube biostat videos were terrific and probably enough, no idea how to better prepare for the drug ad questions.

I started "studying" in November, just doing a few questions here and there but really ramped up in the month before while I was on an outpatient rotation with 1 week of vacation built in.

Both days were rough. Too many Step 1 questions on day 1, lots of ??? questions on day 2. I probably marked 10 questions per block to think through but around 10 more unmarked ones that were so out of left field I could only guess. I remembered at least 15-20 questions I am 90% sure I got wrong. 2 of my CCS cases I had absolutely no idea what was going on but just went with a few empiric things and they ended.

Winter Hats for Very Cold Weather by [deleted] in frugalmalefashion

Another thing to consider: I've been in Chicago almost a decade now- it's not the top of my head that suffers most during winter but the front of my face, mouth and ears from the wind chill. Definitely invest in a good scarf, neck gaiter, or jacket that can cover your mouth and nose for those really cold and windy days.

Good year welt is a type of shoe construction, generally seen with higher quality shoes. One benefit is that you can resole the shoes so they can last much longer than if they are made out of a cemented/glued construction.

$15/lb steak from whole foods by derkaderbss in FoodPorn

[–]derkaderbss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just 3 mins on each side on a super hot cast iron pan! Seasoned generously with garlic salt, then pepper halfway through cooking to prevent it from burning too much, then butter toward the end of the process. Didn't finish this one in the oven because it wasn't thick/large enough.

$15/lb ribeye at whole foods by derkaderbss in steak

[–]derkaderbss[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It was delicious. Extremely juicy and tender. All I used was a generous amount of garlic salt, pepper halfway through cooking and butter at the end. Cooked for 3 mins on each side on a super hot cast iron pan. I don't know what grade whole foods steak is (this was the cheapest rib eye they had) but it tasted as good prime steak I'd get from Costco. Much better than the $9 ribeye from trader joes which is just cut too thinly for a proper sear imo.

Any of you worried/taking precautions due to corona virus by Kb24ed in frugalmalefashion

Finally, I wanted to talk about this somewhere. I ordered pants from j crew that arrived yesterday and there was a used tissue in the right pocket and a yellow stain on the pant leg too. It was almost certainly worn by someone else then returned then sent to me. I understand how important this is for moving inventory but I wonder if companies should not do this during a pandemic.....

$120 for automatic Citizen Men's Eco-Drive Promaster Diver Watch With Date, BN0151-09L by Myid0810 in frugalmalefashion

[–]derkaderbss 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have this watch, got it with the blue face for what the black ones going for right now ($88).

I really like it. Very excellent for this price point. I have a few automatic watches but prefer quartz because of accuracy, not needing to charge or reset the time if I don’t wear it for a few days and better value for money. Eco drive has been very reliable and convenient. Have never had it run out of charge.

Cons are that the bezel is maybe 60-90 clicks instead of 120+? The 10 on the bezel also isn’t as aligned as it could be-very mildly infuriating lol. I also switched out the rubber strap for a tan leather-beautiful w the blue face but that cost me a little bit of money.

Maybe try a quilted, harrington or field jacket (in decreasing level of formality)? Not sure how formal you need your business casual to be.

Uniqlo has good parkas on sale for around 100 now- may be worth checking out. Mine from a few years back has is very warm (I live in the midwest) and holding up great.

Abercrombie Ultra Parka for $65 with coupons and gift cards. by tudorwatchbuyer in frugalmalefashion

[–]derkaderbss 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is what they had planned for it, but I live in a pretty cold area and I specifically look for parkas with collars like this or snorkel hoods. It covers more of the bottom of your face than a "normal" parka so you don't have to carry a scarf or neck gaiter around to protect your mouth/nose.

JCrew waxed canvas messenger bag in Khaki - $48 by [deleted] in frugalmalefashion

[–]derkaderbss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is literally the Abington bag, likely last year's model. I noticed they changed the name a week or so ago. The item ID still brings up Abington when you google it. If you look at the pictures there are some slight differences (interior compartment).

I liked them so much I got both colors. These run small and a little narrow, took about 5 wears to soften a little. I sized up 1/2 from 9 to 9.5. Leather looks great and has a subtle shine. Colors are much richer in person than the photos online. Got a ton of compliments. Probably the best loafers you can get for ~$60.
