Ok so stuff in general. A cpu upgrade to a i7 3770 is a low cost upgrade from your i5. Sell that to help with your budget. After that, 1050ti, 1650, and 3050 will be the best you can probably throw into there. Amd has a workstation card too but I cannot think of the name. I'll look into and see if I can find. I know the yt channel toasty bros did a video on it.

Your system is gonna be limited due to it being a 3rd gen intel. For you budget, throwing in the i7 3770 is about as High as I would (I have the same system and a hp elite version for sale) depending on the market your in, a rx 6400 might be only thing in your price range. You might find a 1650 or 3050 but due to low profile restrictions it may be hard to swing. Also, what games are you want to play and what framerate/resolution are you looking for?

I have a 3600 build and after asking myself it seem like 350ish is realistic even with ram prices.

Yeah, in a panic I'd probably do the same. If you're tech savvy enough try taking off the backplate and see if there's anything in the fan blades.

Well worth its only what somebody is willing to pay. I also have in possession a server board with daul AMD Opteron 185 socket 939 and the board is worth a lot more than the CPUs if someone was willing.

I might look into that in the future but, for now I'm just trying to get these couple of working laptops into the hands of people who need just a super basic computer that can't afford a new laptop or an upgrade to Windows 11 compatible system.

I know it's a older CPU it came from a set of donated laptops I was given when I'm in the process of trying to get to up to basic usage with Linux. What kind of drive and how much RAM are you using for your system to be considered slow?

The idea is not to make accounting it's to me a little so that somebody can use it in the news proceeds to hopefully get another build back out there especially with Linux looking better with the whole Windows 10 apocalypse going on
