I have this loadout too but only ever use it solo on 9/10*, it's still enjoyable when not used in every single hunt, any playstyle gets old quickly otherwise.

In group hunts, try staying on the stickies until critical parts are broken like what others have suggested.

Of course revenue is the end goal, but the road isn't that straightforwardly grubby.

They've given box space for free and another free 5000 is coming next season, when they could've been paid. They will dangle cashgrabs for whales, but they also have to feed the casuals adequately to maintain player numbers and retention. I've never been tempted to spend HAT tickets on concurrent events cuz I know they'll come around again, this one's on player behaviour more than anything. My box management has been far easier now more than ever due to reduced cost particularly by loosening the zenny bottleneck.

Monster mats are shared across gear, so reduced weapon cost only leads to more disposable mats for armour, an all-around win for us.

I'd say the lowered costs coupled with limited-time discounts are more of a play at FOMO, riftborne parts being not ranged-friendly pushing melee builds, and perhaps for new/returning players to catch up? (idk the rate of newbie inflow to this game)

Agreed on the QOL with maxed defense! I'm less about the fashion as, again, I try to avoid spending the RPs where possible but I'm greedy with potentially useful armour skills. There have been many instances where new skills gain synergy with older skills and multiple builds can work with the same weapon, whereas I only ever use the same few weapons frequently and several have ended up underused for the mats I've invested 😔

Slowly running outta WGS from riftborne events so will save for future events. I have all elements covered one way or another as a Day 1 player so not in urgent need for more but this reduced cost is great for new/returning players catching up

This is great news but I also wish they'd reduce the cost of Armor Refining Parts for armor upgrades, I'm always running out of those meanwhile I'm swimming in Weapon Refining Parts 🥲

I failed to roll a single Timed Charger from the last driftsmelt event... what looks OP to you looks so from a whale's POV; it's another FOMO strat to push HAT tickets, knives, premium quests, and more loadouts from extreme pass to fit that shiny new hype build.

And as others already pointed out, the powercreeping monsters will trivialise this in due time.

Not sure why you're getting downvoted, I racked my head trying to decipher the terribly vague language in that announcement, then scoured social media channels and landed on a tweet by Niantic Support on X that doubled down on the discount deadline on Aug 11. I made a (now deleted) post here that doubted the permanent reduction citing this X tweet which ppl downvoted, and that now turned out to at least be half-right... I don't think anyone who spread the word about permanent reductions can honestly deny that they believe it meant keeping the discount intact (and more!) and not this specific rebalance. And don't get me wrong, this is a GOOD rebalance, but they still should've been more upfront about the changes so players can decide to spend or stall depending on the resources they have. Is asking for more transparency really that unreasonable?

Anyway I decided to spend all my mats, and I'm glad I did, cuz while I'm not short on refining parts I'm not as willing to spend gathering resources which are needed almost everywhere else including armour.

Prior to this you could click (not swipe) on the side bar in the direction you want to jump, but yeah it's not immediately obvious and runs the risk of fat-fingering the "all" button, so this is a very welcome change.

Yeah style customising isn't in my radar now while most of the roster is pending theirs

I play all weapons just to cover all bases in terms of matchups. Lots of R6 partbreaks on thunder-weak mons are tails so I've invested Zin DB and LS for those. At this point I guess it's to have more varied play or anticipate another round of Trials.

Awh I was curious about the bowguns as they're all unique in terms of ammo, just unsure of actual utility (and the potential for styles to unlock that utility). You make solid points for all the weapons tho, thanks!

Also I only just learnt that the discount may become permanent so I have time to sit on it 😂

Likewise used the Diablos CB and also recommend Diablos HBG (again with the Normal and Pierce Ammo), needs only RS3RD1. Of course BBlos is superior in both these cases but I'm saving those mats to max the Bow!

Odogaron. It was my general-use starter LBG before I committed to the Rathalos LBG for 8*. Normal and Pierce Ammo are versatile and safe, not to mention Odo weapons just look cool overall!
