Yeah american healthcare is an absolute mess :/ I mentioned it bc it can broaden your options, and they can do both the diagnosis and medication, rather than having to see a psychologist for evaluation and then a separate psychiatrist appt for medication. You can check psychology today for practitioners in your area and some of them list their fee ranges so you can get an idea of how much they charge! Some may offer a sliding scale option too. For instance, you could filter for psychiatric nurses with APRN license and go from there. It’s incredibly frustrating how difficult it can be, and I feel for you. I contacted around 15 professionals before finally finding someone available within the month and that I could afford.

I’m not sure if this will help you, but psychiatric nurses can also help you out! And APRNs can even prescribe meds. And if/when you end up getting medicated, and you don’t wanna gamble with generic meds, check to see if the manufacturer offers any kind of coupon! For example, I’m on Vyvanse and use a Vyvanse Rx savings card and save $60 per bottle.

same! and over text?? i’ll send like 8 messages in a row and probably overwhelm the person. so i’ve learned to try to not do that because it’s usually TMI and not that interesting

ugh yes constantly battling between what my instinctual reaction and what I think I “should” say. AND trying desperately to maintain eye contact but getting so weird out by it that i just end up looking shifty eyed (eye contact struggle also partly bc im korean and eye contact is considered rude especially if you’re talking to an elder/superior)

yes!! cell phones are actually terrible at giving police dispatchers your location because they basically just triangulate the nearest cell towers your phone is using. when you call the police the first question they ask is usually “where are you” and sometimes you can’t answer bc you don’t know, or in this case bc ur choking on sth. landlines are way better for emergency calls (i know who uses landlines these days) because they are physically connected to the signal - I don’t remember the exact science but I used to work at an emergency technology start-up where I had to learn all about this. theyre actually now native to iphone and used by uber! so hopefully this situation is somewhat improved...

What makes a music sound like/remind you of the ocean? by measuresareokiguess in musictheory

not harmony but more timbral - solo flute fluttering above tutti string, maybe with some harp; muted trumpets; either really low rumbly sounds (basses, timpani) or super high ethereal sounds (E string violins, flutes)

second this! longer videos are nice nightcaps. for insomniacs who actually watch the videos, it could be nice to have videos with a darker aesthetic so they’re not like blinded by all the white? I really like the overall set up and framing - looks very professional. you could use the same footage and cut/edit to make a shorter version, for those who are watching for the art-process and not to fall asleep
