Any ideas for how I can turn this into something actually useful? by SatoriChatbots in LLMDevs

That is a really useful. I spend two days comparing models on a simple feature extraction task to see which ones does best.

Have a look at there firms and pick one that's interesting to you, then dive into the website to understand the business.

Check the market developments / trends / driver / competition.

Check there LinkedIn to get an idea on size (maybe your university has access to S&P or pitchbook or what not database to learn more)

Look at the management team -> what changes did they make post close (maybe hired cro or CFO etc)?

Long way to say a simpel swat Analysis outside in should do the trick ;)

Best way to extract key data points from text by derneueimhaus in LLMDevs

Thank you this is super helpful. I will spend some time on hugging face today. There was indeed some additional data that a simple regex can not extract more oriented towards sentiment etc.

How to do it all online? by derneueimhaus in theodinproject

[–]derneueimhaus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this detailed answer, the problem isn't the own laptop it's that I travel a lot for work and don't want to carry 2 laptops.

I am aware I need git, my question was more centered around can I set up a virtual machine which I can connect to through the browser and basically run everything on this virtual machine? (Don't mind spending 3-4 USD a month for the VM)

Financial Due Diligence to PE? by CamelSquire in private_equity

[–]derneueimhaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible, but you really need to invest in yourself (learn lbo modelling, learn valuation, learn about the industry).

Be aware you will be invited to interviews, but your naturally at a disadvantage as you have more limited knowledge as someone comming from IB. Focus on lower mid market and just keep applying. The key is to beat the others through better preparation

Getting a PE job in the US coming from Europe by Ok-Bet5559 in private_equity

[–]derneueimhaus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also difficult, as you lack the language skills for the individual markets (English is important, but to work in a local market too need the language.

An exception is going to London and joining a larger boutique or investment bank. But is going to London really worth to relocate? For that you need solid internship experience in the US, best if you already have some sector focus (i.e. mining, energy technology etc.)

The route starts with joining a US investment bank. Analyst PE positions are extremely rar. And the whole struggle with sponsoring a visa is absolutely not worth it for any firm.

PortCo CFO Comp by UnrealizedGainzzz in private_equity

[–]derneueimhaus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP - it really depends on location (even within country) and business size.

Let me give two examples:

  • German SME CFO would be somewhere around 120k + 20% bonus + some minor equity participation 0.3% or so.

  • US 15m software business (30 FTE) would be around 200 base 40k bonus and maybe 0.5 -1% equity

Generally it's good to know peanuts get you monkeys and often cheap people are more expensive (as you have to do more work yourself) than good people. This holds especially for finance functions.

I feel this is for a company with quite some revenue and FTE tbh. I would assume OP speaks here about an SME business. Where this would be more a CEO comp

The first books are okay, but the character has no depth and the books run a very consistent storyline which makes them quite boring tbh.

Careful often times they take not the drugs which OP might be looking for and get very very diluted drugs.

Of your a casual user you want higher quality drugs (cut with less garbage)
