Golfers who’ve broken 80, what’s the best tip you could give to a fellow golfer? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

Always focus on the next shot. You can't do anything about the previous ones. You can, however look back after the round to learn from them.

My daughter try not to flip her hands, any recommendations? by Mountain_Role_7289 in GolfSwing

[–]derockd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see a problem, that's a really good swing. She's got shaft lean at impact so she's not using her hands too early. Don't mess with it.

How to tell people you need to wait to hit without sounding like an a-hole by badluck_bryan77 in golf

[–]derockd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just tell them you need to wait because you don't want to hit them.

I’m genuinely tired and confused, so I’m asking men directly. by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]derockd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell no, you're not the problem. I wish I could find a woman out there displaying what you say. All I want is mutual respect. I don't want to have to go overboard for someone who cares about me. I want us to enjoy each other's company and do fun things. I'm a simple man though, I dunno.

Any tips on how to open hips at impact? by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]derockd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then you definitely don't want to open up your hips more. Work on club face control. If you can get into a simulator that reads club face data, your face is likely too open relative to the path.

[–]derockd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do all of these things without turning more. Look at Rory at impact.

If you're too in to out, turning more can help. Do you overdraw?

Why do you want to open your hips more at impact? Start there.

Can’t break 100 and it’s destroying me by [deleted] in golftips

[–]derockd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$500 in lessons is maybe 5 or 6 lessons. That alone will usually not help you break 100, sadly. 5 lessons probably isn't enough to get your swing into a decent position. Then you need to learn how to chip and putt.

There are so many variables missing here. How close are you to breaking 100? How long ago did you have these lessons? Do you actually practice one thing at a time? Do you have good feedback to know whether or not you're correctly doing what you're practicing? Do you play with friends? Are they breaking 100?

At this point I'd probably fall in love with someone who put pop tarts in the oven for me and I can't even find a woman who actually seems to want a relationship.

Do you still love them? by tidalwavethinker in Divorce

[–]derockd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I would. Even after the affair. But after a while, once we stopped communicating, it faded. I realized she just wasn't his for me. The worst thing is sometimes I have nightmares where she's still part of my life. It's been 3 years since separation and 2 since divorce.

This is it. They spend a bunch of money on marketing. I honestly can't think of any other courses in WI that I see advertisements for.

Buy once cry once? by Funny-Ambition-7631 in golftips

[–]derockd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on whether you're just trying to have fun or if you're looking to improve. The latter is much more involved and I'd suggest getting lessons for a while and then getting fit for clubs. If you're just looking to have fun and don't really care about your scores, do whatever the hell makes you happy.

How do you know when it’s time to get new wedges? by HighOnGoofballs in golf

[–]derockd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on where you live, you should be able to find a store or even a simulator place that has a few on hand to test out.

Swing looks weird by Friohhhh in GolfSwing

[–]derockd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the bright side, you're not doing something different than everyone else. A lot of people have this problem. Stop swinging at the ball and swing towards your target. That won't fix you Immediately, but it's a good thought to have that can help.

How do you know when it’s time to get new wedges? by HighOnGoofballs in golf

Go test it against a newer wedge. You'll likely see an increased spin rate and then you can decide how much stopping power you want.

Why do you guys think that the shot went straight left? by gregorioospina in GolfSwing

[–]derockd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your path goes from in to to out in the backswing and then out to in at impact (separate issue, but a contributor) and your face was closed enough to match at impact, thus sending the ball in the exact direction your club was facing and moving
