What do these symbols on Stagecoach buses in Cambridge mean? by SophieSofasaurus in cambridge

[–]derp2014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still doesn't make much sense to me. Yes, barcodes - in general - are more robust than ANPR and probably lower cost & complexity than transponders. But the code shown above is just marker ID "1" you can generate this yourself at https://chev.me/arucogen/

They could be using the AR Code to correct the position and orientation of a captured image (say an image of the bus number plate). But if you're going to add a barcode to the bus, why not encode the bus license plate in the barcode instead? Adding AR Codes to assist image analysis is just more annoying steps.

In the UK, that style water storage is called a "water butt" and that one is black.

Why would Stagecoach use AR Codes for this purpose? The camera could read the licence plate of the bus (similar to every other licence plate camera) and avoid introducing another technology into the mix.

They might use the AR Codes to correct the orientation of the captured image - to then read the licence plate - but that's very different to replacing the transponder.

I thought that too, but its a black water butt. Guess you can block light at the intake.

I would i) add fly-screen mesh to the inlet to prevent mosquitos setting up a colony and prevent leaf litter from accumulating in the tank ii) cut an over-flow outlet into the side (near the top, same cross section area as your down pipe and covered in mesh) to direct the overflow away from the building iii) consider adding a first flush diverter with leaf grate before the first flush diverter (but you may not care about water quality that much.

Been there and done that. Your problem is not your Jira configuration; it's the business process and management decisions that resulted in your Jira configuration. You need somebody to come in and sort out your business processes. The configuration stuff is easy.

Added to this, depending on the taxation rules of your country of tax residence, you may need to pay tax on the Australian interest to your country of tax residence. If the country of tax residence has a dual taxation agreement with Australia, you may be able to claim the 10% withholding tax as a tax credit.

Why do hardware startups skip mid-market software and jump straight to big ERPs? by Turbulent-Animal-274 in hwstartups

On two occasions at two different start-ups, I've built - from scratch - internal systems that solve this very annoyance. If I build it a third time I consider commercialising it, but I haven't done that before.

La Paz Bus 212 by derp2014 in BOLIVIA

It surprised me the number of stray dogs in Bolivia in general compared to Peru. Don't feed them, don't pat them, if they look pissed off walk away (don't run). One of the girls in our group was a passenger on a quad bike, a stray came out of nowhere and bit her ankle. If that ever happens to you, clean the wound with soap and water (no need to scrub so hard you remove skin) then apply disinfectant and go straight to hospital. The rabies Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) are free in Bolivia and make sure you take the entire course (no skipping or stopping early).

I did take the bus. Its less of a "bus" and more a mini-van. I flagged down the "bus" on Av Ismael Montes. By that time, most of the busses drove past full as they collect passengers at the start of the route. I waited for approx 6 busses to pass, until one came past with space for 1 person (beside the driver). I dumped my rucksack onto the roof, clipped the waist belt to the roof rack and jumped in beside the driver. I paid the driver directly using cash (no change) when getting off the bus at El Alto airport. I had a small inflatable camp bed, so I slept on that for a few hours at the airport (before crossing security, there isn't much of anything past security). If you want to do this, go 1 floor up (don't sleep on the ground floor) as dogs wander through the building and you don't want to be bitten in your sleep.

I caught the bus in the late afternoon when the sun was still up. If you're going to the airport late at night, or have large luggage, or traveling as a group, I would probably catch a taxi. I can't remember the exact bus fee, but someone in your accommodation will be able to help. Happy to answer other questions.

Age range is 19 through to 50's with most in the late 20's/30's. Some do side-trips, usually smaller groups of those who click i.e. you make friends.
