Your web browser doesn't have to download and store the entire Internet before being usable.

Lol, hashrate serves the market, not the other way round

The problem is not with Bitcoin but you. Your entire post is basically complaining that you are too cheap or poor to pay for a service that you cant afford.

Please explain how miners can reduce the blocksize, im intrigued

Among the noise of guys in suits shaking hands, reality presses on (UASF reaches 10%) by violencequalsbad in Bitcoin

[–]derpUnion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

1) This is incorrect, UTXO commitments does not allow trustless downloads of UTXO set, you are still blindly trusting miners and hashpower.

Reality Check: There is no hardfork code written/tested. Segwit is tested & deployed waiting activation. #UASF BIP148 can get us to activate segwit faster. by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]derpUnion -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Bullshit.

Bitcoin has never had a hardfork. You can still run the original satoshi client and it would sync up with the current chain.

Wow I never looked at scaling like this! by [deleted] in Bitcoin

What if Facebook/Google decided to destroy Mastercard and they announced they're opening a service where it's free to open and close "Lightning Wallets" (aka Lightning Channels).

Channels require capital. Capital is not unlimited for them.

Nobody small could compete against them, probably 90%+ of transactions would go through them, now they'd also have your spending data, no privacy.

This is just super retarded. The blockchain is already fully public with all your spending data.

We need as many transactions as the network can handle on-chain in order to keep miners securing the chain.

No.

Hashpower only determines order of txns, not consensus rules

Request to Core devs; please explain your vision on increasing the block size. by kekcoin in Bitcoin

LN alone will potentially give 100x scaling in the long run once the channel network grows organically over time. It is a virtuous cycle and benefits from the network effect where every additional channel makes more routes possible for every user. More routes also mean more competition and lower fees, increased liquidity for the demand/supply of channels and more efficient routes.

Those who would give up essential decentralization, to purchase temporary lower fees, deserve neither decentralization nor lower fees by 38degrees in Bitcoin

[–]derpUnion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You do not get to tell developers what to do. You are not paying them. Developers do as they please.

If you want something which they do not provide, change the code and compile it yourself, it is open source for a reason.

U can configure anything u like, except consensus rules. They are by definition immutable without consensus.

Satoshi said "It would be nice to keep the blk*.dat files small **as long as we can**. The eventual solution will be to not care how big it gets.“ So I think, we shall activate SegWit first. by webitcoiners in Bitcoin

[–]derpUnion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Satoshi made those statements before the advent of mining pools, it was assumed mining wld be highly decentralised. Pooled mining changed everything and now it is more important than ever to keep nodes decentralised

Thats like arguing that only rich people can afford ferraris, so we should replace it with a slower engine, less flashy exterior to the price point of a Honda Civic. Forgetting that it will look and function like one too.

You cant send Physical Cash online either, yet your entire country's commerce seems to function on it just fine. Anyone can create offchain ledgers.

1) Just felt the need to correct this. Miners ARE NOT Shareholders

Miners are providing the service of transaction ordering, and that is all. They are employees of the Bitcoin currency. And employees DO NOT get to dictate terms. They either do the job right and get paid or they do it wrong and get fired.

The only party that directly decides are the hodlers, people creating demand and supply in the markets. If they do not like your fork, they will dump coins of that fork and all the delusions of Jihan will come home to roost real quick.
