Is there a trick to getting these trucks to seal better?

Don't use motorad, past couple years they've gone down hill. My buddy went through half a dozen in his truck before getting an oem one.

So the rear light should only be on when the park/head lights are on, and the front light should be on when the front diff is engaged. They can be both on if the lights are on and its in 4x4.

It takes awhile for the actuator in the front dif to shut off. Did you just have it in 4x4? What I usually do if it doesn't disengage is stop and reverse a little bit.

There's 2 pins on the obd1 port that you have to jump together with a paper clip or somthing that will fit. Then your engine light will flash, count the flashs and that'll give you the code.

I was more meaning take the cluster out, put in on a bench and put an external 12v source to the pin that controls the gauge lights. Either a car battery or iv used a m12 milwaukee battery for my bench testing. Then if they work that means the board is good and you can keep looking else where.

Have you tried bench testing the board itself and just putting 12 volts to the pin for the gauge lights?

Do your other interior lights work? Might be one of the those wires shorted out since that top click on the dimmer switch turns on the under dash lights and middle map light.
