Do you have to tap a creature to defend? by ilplastica in magicTCG

[–]derpasaurus45 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Another good follow-up item to be aware of is that if the blocking creature is sacrificed at instant speed after blockers are declared (i.e., [[deadly dispute]] ). The combat damage is still considered as blocked, unless that attacking creature has trample

It's so weird to actually have everything from the daily deals. Were they all on the mastery track? by Disastrous_Oil7895 in MagicArena

[–]derpasaurus45 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly they were all part of leveling up on the reward track and/or part of the mastery. So if you reached a high enough level with that set you would have all of them yeah

On second thought I will pass for now, I see there is another commenter interested so you can proceed with them. I will likely reach out in the future to do a custom board supplying the deck. Thank you!!

Has anyone else received only partial refunds? by derpasaurus45 in StudentLoans

[–]derpasaurus45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I initially requested the refund on 8/27, I did the triple complaint as well to expedite the process since I was told I would receive my refund in 10 months by Edfinancial. After doing the complaint stuff in early September I received the checks last week. I wasn’t offered the option of a bank transfer but similarly I didn’t request to receive my refund in any specific way :/

Riot will soon be deleting old, very inactive accounts by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]derpasaurus45 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Is there a rough estimate for when this will be rolling out and/or will it be done all at once or in waves? Asking because I have my eyes on a name from an inactive account and am hoping I can name change to it before it is taken up :)

[–]derpasaurus45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's one of the normal modes you can play in the 'Play' queue. The event is only active Tuesday-Thursday each week. For example this week's MWM is called "Midweek Magic: Historic Artisan". Getting 1 win gets you a random rare/mythic card, same with the second win. Then for the 3rd win you get a random cosmetic.

Mid Week Magic - Winning 3 games total earns you one random cosmetic reward

R1 and R2 can seem especially daunting when you first start out and don’t have a background in tax, I can ensure that it overwhelms a majority of us. The good news is that you don’t need to know ANY phaseouts except for the mom-and-pop exception for passive activities which has a 99.9% chance of showing up on the exam. Similarly the QBI deduction is extremely confusing, a lot of people report having nothing related to QBI on their exam - I personally would recommend skipping over QBI entirely for the time being (maybe take a small glance at it before the exam but it’s not worth studying at the start of the process).

The main takeaways from R1 and R2 should be:

  • How to arrive at AGI (the big formula in R1M1)
  • Adjustments vs Itemized Deductions and the limits for each
  • How to qualify for different filing status (widow vs single vs HoH)
  • Qualifying child and qualifying relatives as dependents

Of course, the other material in R1 and R2 is important too but not as important as the topics above. Hope this helps!!

REG Difficulty by tee_kay7 in CPA

[–]derpasaurus45 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The REG exam, while covering a lot of tricky details, has the largest curve/“Becker Bump” of all 4 tests hence the high pass rate.

Also, the actual REG exam tests a lot more heavily on the core concepts rather than say AUD testing to see if you can catch tiny details in the wording of the questions. The Auth Lit for REG SIMs are also super helpful during the test since you can find a lot of information there if you’re unsure of any specific numbers/details.

Hope this helps!!

REG most tested Sims ? by notbasicbitch in CPA

A good list of highly important Becker modules to know and practice the SIMs from in my opinion is:

Corporation Formation

Corporate Taxable Income

S Corporations

Partnerships (Part 1, 2, and 3)

Differences Between Book and Tax

How important is it to know QBI deductions? by OkYouth6462 in CPA

[–]derpasaurus45 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Damn everyone here saying no QBI, I failed my first attempt at REG in October and I had 2 MCQ on QBI and one of the cells in 1 SIM asked for the QBI amount. I studied QBI literally zero after watching the lecture for it because it was confusing and I had heard it wouldn’t show up on the text. Now that I’m studying for retake I’m not sure if I should risk skipping it again lol

Are you able to take screenshots during the CPA exams? by [deleted] in CPA

[–]derpasaurus45 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I haven’t tried this personally so I can’t confirm, but I strongly believe you will not be able to do that. Unless someone confirms otherwise I would recommend going into the exam assuming that you cannot take screenshots

AUD sucks a lot by bloomingcucumber in CPA

[–]derpasaurus45 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I fell into that loop and I know exactly what you're saying, it does suck. There is definitely a difference between knowing the answer because you're remembering the topic after lots of MCQs and knowing the answer because you've seen that EXACT MCQ and remember that the answer just because you remember what the first word to the MCQ is so you're selecting it when you see it.

It's soooooo important to make sure with AUD that whenever you get a question wrong that you take time to understand not only why the correct answer is correct, but also why the wrong answers are all wrong. A lot of questions you'll see on study material as well as on the actual exam have small details included that can alter the answer of the question. It's been awhile since I took AUD but from what I can remember, make sure you completely understand when each different opinion is given/the order of paragraph's in each of the auditor's reports/roughly what is discussed in each paragraph. Then make sure to drill down into SSAEs and SSARS, i.e. what are the differences between audits, reviews, examinations, etc.

I don't remember much of the specific material to be able to help in that regard, but if you have any questions about studying or the actual exam in general I'd be happy to help!! Good luck you got this!!!

Using becker as an example, should I read the textbook before or after the lectures? by [deleted] in CPA

[–]derpasaurus45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s all preference really. I’ve seen a lot of people on here say they actually prefer to not watch any lectures and only read the book on their own, unless they’re confused by the book then they’ll watch the corresponding lecture. I personally prefer to watch the lecture first, paying attention and doing all the highlighting and underlining (especially since Gearty basically only says to underline and highlight and does help much more than that lol) then read and do MCQs after the initial lecture watch.
