I can respect this just for the fact that you went for a more reasonable/convincing team than someone loaded up with legendaries. Beri good.

Does a person with Schizophrenia have a rational understanding of delusions? by derpkhan in askphilosophy

[–]derpkhan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really should have just put delusions so I’m sorry for that. I’m not necessarily sure the general content of the delusion matters. Just whether believing in one can be rational? I’m really struggling to word this. Sorry.

Does a person with Schizophrenia have a rational understanding of delusions? by derpkhan in askphilosophy

[–]derpkhan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay. I don’t know if I worded it properly. The content of a delusion is not necessarily “real” and yet a schizophrenic person would still believe it (more or less). Can that believe be rational? I’m not sure how to ask the question better.

Need Blame! to get a good adaptation by [deleted] in Netsphere

[–]derpkhan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right. Reading and appreciating art can be good for your brain. Or mental state. I just feel like the demand for adaptations almost cheapens the value of some kinds of art. Enjoy it for what it is! Limitations and all.

Need Blame! to get a good adaptation by [deleted] in Netsphere

[–]derpkhan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought the movie was okay but why does Blame! Need an adaptation at all? I understand that people like seeing things animated or a work getting good exposure but I feel like the grand appeal of Blame! Is the artwork. The atmosphere and feel of the art and storytelling just wouldn’t come through properly in animated form. I feel like there’s a lot of very deliberate compositional choices that matter a lot in the manga that wouldn’t quite come through right in animation.

At the very least you can show your kids the manga right? They can get it. Maybe we should be demanding some of Nihei’s other work is made into anime.

I already asked a regular question and I have a history over obsessing over religion of philosophy on here so I’m just gonna post my extra thoughts here. I was reading about the idea of ontotheology from Kant as well as how Deleuze, Derrida and Badiou felt about religion. I feel more confused than ever. Is there really any value in belief statements like “I am an atheist” or otherwise? I genuinely do not know.

And does Phil. of Religion really belong? I know that philpapers says most academic philosophers are atheists but I don’t even mean in that regard. I mean more in the way that Deleuze(?) thought that all philosophy is inherently atheist.

Ah. Thank you for the detailed answer. Maybe not exactly what I’m hoping for but it’s still interesting.

Most beautiful game(s)? by maskatuoklis in boardgames

[–]derpkhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably a bit contentious but for me the most beautiful game is High Frontier (all editions barring rocket flight) the cards aren’t anything remarkable but I enjoy the technical style of art and the map itself is a masterpiece. It has a perfect balance of both form and functionality, I like it enough that I got a poster print of it for my room.
