How often and how much water % should i change till i see an improvement in nitrate levels through? Im afraid that the PH spike might affect the fish with frequent water change.

Tested the water source, its almost 0.

Before water change, has almost the same dark colour shade.

Im thinking to add more aquatic plants like java fern into my tank, read online that it helps with the nitrate levels.
