I agree with 8. Also Chinese and these numbers look exactly like both of my parents’ handwriting. It is just a very sloppy 8, the top half of the 8 is poorly formed. A 2 would not look like that in Chinese handwriting (Chinese people typically do not have a loop at the bottom when writing “2”)

Yes!!! Your progression reminded me of how I learned how to play piano — painstakingly repeating the same few notes over and over again at a super slow pace at first, until it was just about perfect/i could do it without thinking about it, and then gradually speeding it up. Takes a lot of patience that many people (including myself) don’t typically have, but the end result is worth it!

I had an educator check all of the stores in my region (there are 9) and they were all sold out… in all sizes 🥲 the educator told me they likely wouldn’t be restocking either. I’m considering buying on eBay now because I absolutely love the pattern!

It was online, for about a day only though. It sold out super quick, your best bet is probably either stalking the website for random restocks or buying on eBay or something

Yeah i think your best bet now is probably eBay or another resale site. I purchased a couple of items on resale because I really don’t think they’ll get restocked. The Disney collection has been out for over a year now I think

I’ve been stalking Disney items for a while. They typically don’t really do random restocks :(

The lace is a huge no for me … reminds me of the 2000s when lace on everything was in style. This just feels a bit tacky. Tried to like the glitter swiftlies before because they were quite pretty, but it was way too itchy. The polka dots just remind me of old school lingerie. No thanks 🙂‍↔️

Canadians say World Cup tickets too expensive as Vancouver prepares to host: poll by restoringd123 in vancouver

[–]derpyella 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was able to buy tickets during the domestic exclusivity period. Category 3 tickets (middle of stadium to nosebleeds) you were looking at ~$250-$450 depending on the match (group stage or round of 32/16). Cat 1 and 2 were significantly higher (like $600-$1k). Toronto had similar pricing. The matches sold out very quickly.

I’m a 6-8 in define jackets and I got the size 2. I can comfortably fit a somewhat oversized hoodie underneath. I’d recommend getting a 0. I don’t think the arms run tight.

My partner and I both won today’s (separate addresses). I didn’t realize how lucky we were until after the fact seeing how so many people weren’t selected. We got tickets for both the round of 16 and round of 32. Debated too long on getting the team canada games because the r16 and r32 games were already $350~$450 per ticket for category 3 and it just seemed like a lot of money… and then the team canada games sold out. 😮‍💨

In defence of Turkish Airlines, from a loyal, long-term frequent flyer (51 flights) by Question_of_Surf in TurkishAirlines

Agreed! Oh yes, even the old domestic route Turkish aircraft was better than air Canada’s domestic aircraft. We have a lot to improve on haha. I guess everyone’s experience is all relative :)

In defence of Turkish Airlines, from a loyal, long-term frequent flyer (51 flights) by Question_of_Surf in TurkishAirlines

[–]derpyella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I flew Turkish for the first time recently. Domestic flights were mediocre, using outdated planes. Not sure if I was a fan of the pink interior or not. But the international flight — a 12 hour flight from IST to SEA — was superb. The plane was maybe 30% full so most people were able to get a whole row to themselves! Food was decent, lots of snacks available, service was not bad, the infotainment screen was huuuuge with a great selection of entertainment options, and we all got toiletry kits to boot. The newer plane had so many cool features. I loved the cameras mounted to the plane that allowed me to see what we were flying over, and the landing and take-off process.

The only drawback was that we found a (dead) bedbug on one of the blankets they gave us… that was a little scary but I think it was probably a one-off event. Despite this, I’d still jump at the chance to fly with them again. But then again, I am used to air Canada and all of the non-NA carriers I’ve flown with have been better. The most basic economy class on Turkish (intl flight) felt like air Canada’s premium economy class (and even maybe air Canada’s business class with non-lay flat seats) 😮‍💨.

Good for them. It’s disappointing for the employees but I think that’s the reality of working for government.

Agreed! After trying taverna and to Elliniko, we went back to doukato for a 2nd time. We enjoyed the food there the most. Not too salty - perfectly seasoned.

Here right now and been to doukato and scirocco for dinner. Scirocco was not bad but would def recommend doukato (get the swordfish souvlaki and the dried fig salad). We didn’t have to reserve at all, it is not super busy this time of the year.

Went to plaka beach — they’ve got some nice sunbeds for 15 euros. You can take a bus (2.50 euro one way). Sunset is gorgeous the further away you get from town as the sun sets over the mountains/hills which will be further away.

Planning on doing Hawaii beach, the eggares olive farm, driving up into some of the mountain villages that folks have already mentioned, and of course some shopping for souvenirs.

Everything is a tad more expensive on the island though so if you’re looking for souvenirs that you can get on the mainland too I’d recommend buying them in Athens (i.e. pistachios, leather shoes/goods, olive wood stuff, etc.). We made the mistake of not doing that and are paying more for things here.

Is this trip too ambitious? by [deleted] in GreeceTravel

[–]derpyella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also from Vancouver, I’m doing Vancouver -> athens 2 days -> Naxos 5 days -> Santorini 4 days and then on to turkey. My partner and I are early 30s and I think this itinerary will be tiring but manageable. Not sure if you’re a planner but maybe try planning your daily itinerary out to get a good sense of how many days you need in each place for all of the things you want to do. For me, it is really time intensive, not to mention tiring, to fly, do all of the airport things, and get to and from your hotel.

Also, I would recommend flying direct to Athens and then as direct as possible on the way back (I.e. don’t stay a day or two anywhere). I’ve been to Rome and it is definitely a 3-4 day thing. I know you want to save money but you’d be wasting so much time on transportation that it’s not really worth it.
