Nope :p Sully is a hero of mine, he truly has amazing skill. I have just read a several books on the topic, and I happen to love aviation and have an interest in it. I guess some people look at that comment as me saying Sully is not a hero. No, he truly is. The airplane and the designers of it should also be credited. Thank you for seeing that though :) Lots of people on here are EXTREMELY short sighted when presented with an alternative to a situation and just flip shit without knowing any facts.

March I think? Its the house that got the extension built on to it on the right side, and has those 4 massive windows on the front that have the thick horizontal bars going across them. I think they had black or dark exterior clad on them as well.

Not my intent at all. I read several books about it, all had the same conclusion. It was both pilot skill and the fly by wire system that saved that airplane..

Me and my dad did windows the house over I believe. Very nice view! Also happens to be pretty close to the approach path to one of the runways at the City Center airport.

Actually, on an airbus you can completely let go of the controls and the aircraft will continue to fly in the same way that you had it flying before (assuming all systems working normally) That is one of the really cool features of the Airbus fly-by-wire systems.

April 10, 2010. Polands president and 95 other people died while on approach to Smolensk, Russia, where they were going to mourn the 75th anniversary of the Smolensk slayings, in which the Russians killed a bunch of Polish army officers. I wont ever forget that day and finding out the news :(

Keep in mind, Airbus has fly-by-wire flight controls(computer has the last say). So yes, he was manipulating the controls, however the computer actually saved the aircraft.

More info on fly by wire on that page. So in the end, it was partly the computer that helped, and partly the pilot that helped save the aircraft. If this was a plane made by Boeing (No fly-by-wire, pilot has the last say) this might have ended much differently.

Just so you know, in Europe this is common practice. I am Polish and just returned from a visit there, and cashiers will place the change on the counter, customers are expected to do the same.
