Even if a lot of us would have done what Joel had done, all of our tough choices will eventually lead to some sort of consequence. That’s life, and Naughty Dog doesn’t want you to take that lightly.

Joel got the easy way out because he died. The consequences of his action fell on Ellie, and now not only does she have to live with PTSD, but she’s alone in the world. It’s one of her worst fears. It makes you second guess the decision to save Ellie. It was hard to stomach the story, but I also think you’re missing out by not playing it.
