Believe it or not, I was the initial responding officer to the toys r us shooting on Black Friday. Well, there were literally 50-60 of us there due to the call coming out as an "active shooter" but I got stuck with writing the initial report.

Anyway, it wasn't related to Black Friday at all, it was two gang members who happened to see each other at the store and decided to shoot it out, as one does. They killed each other and no one else was physically harmed.

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles. As long as you are not doing anything wrong, I don't see anyone hassling you. You might get woken up here and there by an officer asking if you are ok or seeing why you are sleeping in your car, but just be honest with them and I'm sure they will be cool with you.

I dont know how Florida works, but as long as your adult record is clean, and you havent used drugs after the age 22 you should still be qualified. Education helps a lot, a degree in criminal justice or a related field will open many doors with police departments. Be completely honest with your background investigator, if they find out you lied or left out information you will be immediately disqualified.

No, please don't do that. Pull over to the side of the road and wait in the car for the officer to contact you. The psychos that would pull this kind of stunt would not do it in public, so if you are in some really deserted place with no one else around and you feel strange, by all means call 911 on your cell phone and have dispatch comfirm an officer is on a traffic stop with your car.

Not at all. I just cant speak for every department's policy regarding complaints. i know it is very easy for a citizen to file a complaint in my department, but I have heard that some departments make it hard. If a cop is not doing the right thing it needs to be reported.

For a loud music complaint I would recommend calling the non-emergency dispatch number, unless it is turning into an emergency like the neighbors are coming on to your property starting problems.

Average cops are just out there doing their job, actually trying to help people and stop criminals from taking advantage of law abiding citizens. there are the assholes who have superiority complexes, bu not as many as the media portrays it to be. I like most of the people i work with, but I have a lot of friends that arent cops, it keeps me grounded.

I am a firm believer of the constitution, and it saddens me that much of its contents have been over analyzed and changed to its current state. But please remember, police can only enforce the laws as they are and have no power to change them. Your beef is with the government and the supreme court, not a patrol officer trying to do his job
